That is what i was thinking as well.
We have to make sure someone has a camera..it says no cameras at the bottom of the invite so I am sure it will be strict. Camera phone would be best for the job. If I lived closer I would go..or if the 430 was there; thats another story.
LOL... closer than Southern California? That's fairly close! Here's some things attendees might need: http://www.thespystore.com/wirelessvideo.htm http://www.uspystore.com/category.phtml?id=4&subcategory=60 I recommend the necktie cam! Or the baseball hat cam...
it was the 575 hard top retractable that sits on top of the rear trunk area. This was first hand account from Ted Rutland and Franc from Tubi USA.
I hear from an attendee that they were even taking any cell phones that had cameras! We might not get any pics. The attendee said the top lifted up and then over onto the trunk. I can't wait to see it in action. There are a bunch of 550 Barchettas here in Monterey... look fantastic... and at least some who have seen it think the new retractable hardtop car looks even better!
I read it in the magazine, Genroque, Chinaboy posted in other thread about new 430, that 575 Barchetta will be limit-production of 50 or 500, which mainly will be sold in the US. It is considered commorative car to celebrate 40 or 50th anniversary of Ferrari USA. The mag had a pic of Montezello showing pic of 575 Barchetta w/out top. From the pic, I couldn't tell what type of top it has. I didn't know 575 didn't have open top! (550 does, why not 575?) What is the difference between spider & barchetta? Sorry for not specific on numbers as I read it in few weeks ago, and also my spelling errors if any (or incorrect grammer, too!)
The 550 Barchetta is in essence purely an open top car. The top cannot be used at speed. So the car is basically "top down" 100% of the time. A 575 spider version would have the capability of being driven with or without the top up.
Correction! It is 50 year anniversary model rumored to be called 575M Spider, not Barchetta. Limited production of 50 cars w/ 50 anniversary logo, is what the article said. Thanks zjpj for your reply!
This is the title they announced at the event. Thanks to Sean at Harris Imports here in SLC utah for the invite. It was a wonderful event and i had a great time. i'll try to describe the top mechanism...it pivots around a circular hinge at the "b pillar" i think you would call it and the rear window pivots with it. The top then sits on the area that would have been the rear shelf and trunk space. With the top laid back flat the trunk still opens. The "c pillar" i think it would be called is obviously moved forward and is curved backward and the area behind the rear window is scalloped out to make space for the top to lay flat. It is an ingenous system and only takes 10-15 seconds to employ. The engine is also uprgraded to the 612 specs...540 hp. The look reminds me of the rare pininfarina 330 GTC with 3 seats seen at pebble beach and the 1963 250 gto/64s. Anyway..it was really nice.
