For those that DIY, I'd like to know what do you do with your old parts. I have a water pump, tensioner bearings and twin-can exhaust taking up space in my garage but can't see throwing them out, but what the heck do you do with used parts? Is there any kind of market for these or is it better to replace the bearings and keep the parts as spares? Thanks in advance.

Hang it up around the house, call it art. I don't think your wife would mind. :D

Can't some things like water pumps be rebuilt?

dammit if it was a 308 small bearing water pump i would buy it, mine has the large bearing one and i dont think its rebuildable, unless i have it backwards. i keep EVERYTHING i take off my "collector" cars. to many buyers it helps seal the deal when the money changes hands.

No SH*T...clean them up, and put them on Ebay. You'd be surprised what people will pay for stuff. Just make sure to be honest, and accurate in your description, and use "no reserve". A reserve price seems to hold people back from bidding.

Clean 'em up or polish them and put 'em on your coffee table.

Of course it helps if you have a table made of F40 wheels. :)

In the process of getting my BA in Art I took a sculpture class during which I visited a couple junk yards & picked up a few primo pieces. Made a robot from a Chrysler intake & lots other bits & pieces from under hoods. Topped “him” off w/ a pair of aviator sunglasses that probably came from a bloody MVC victim. He was holding a baby. I won 3rd place & $500.00 in the college senior show for,” Father & Son”.

A fellow Corvette buff that I knew had a very unique piece of wall art. It seems that another friend of his had several early fuel injection units sitting on his garage shelf. The garage caught fire one night under very fishy circumstances. Several cars were lost to the fire, and the fuel injection units melted into one big mass of semi-molten aluminum. Parts of the units were still discernable among the mass. It was like a bizarre Salvador Dali painting. At todays prices, that mass of aluminum would probably be worth about nine or ten thousand dollars if they hadn't melted in the fire.
