Exactly what did you mean by this statement?

    "World paying you back...?"

    We deserved 9/11???

You wanted 5000 non-military people killed?

What about the Canucks killed in those buildings? They deserved it too?

Or did you get a letter of apology from ol'benladen?

    MY DEAR AMERICAN FRIENDS/NEIGHBORS:

I need to chim in here, please allow our (CDN)friend to voice his / her freedom of speech in which we all enjoy. But 62GTO I think I can speak for many CDN's that you maybe well over reacting and being abit harsh, and abit disrespectful. The US is not just a neighbor, but in reality we share almost everything, whether its natural resources, medical research and the likes.

I for one am PISSED OFF at the world for pissing on the American flag. Wrong or right we are living in the best part of the world and we are very lucky our neighbor is the US and that they are the super power they are, because if it was Iran, you (62gto)would have been sleeping with the fishes for your political view.

Back to the topic, yes taxes here in Canada are 50 % if you include PST, Health tax in Ontario, GST and the gas taxes we are hitting 50%, and we have a weaker health care, and no military. Canada is one of the most beautiful places to be in and happy to call this my home.

But make no mistake, if something happened south of me, I would be very willing to pick up my knife (since we have no guns) and come and fight to protect our boarders together. GOD BLESS CANADA/AMERICA.

"We have no guns, we have no military"<<< That's a flat out lie. We have both. Why can't Canadians travell with freedom any more? Because we are mistaken for Americans.. That's why. Why does the US need an army so large? Because if they didn't have one so big, the US wouldn't be here any more. Everyone wants a piece of them and it's no wonder. There just isn't getting around that flag of theirs I guess. They are the greatest and the best at everything. Using the worlds resources, pollution, attacking other countries, wow. If they are so great, why would anyone want to hurt them? Why not be like them? Because if the whole world was like the US, they would just be like every other kid on the block. They wouldn't have the world by the throat and wouldn't be able to tighten the grip to get what they want. That flag is more of a shield than anything else.
I have worked with a few retired US, their own stories made my gut uneasy.
Just calm down and the world will follow, then we can think about not making weapons that will destroy the world with one push of a button. Everyone in the world is a threat, all but the US. Stange, it's almost like brain washing. But that's just the movies right?

My freind, throughout history there has always been a strong nation, whether it was the Romans, the Greeks, or the US. At the end of the day there will always be one nation that will control. All Im saying is even if the US does make an error, its an error that democracy will atleast investigate and make better, our nation is based on this principal. At least they admit error if it ooccurs. Do you think Iran, India, North Korea will admit an error (Never), at least we are free to voice opinions even you !! Think of it this way, let me paint you a picture. Say you have two neighbors to the left and the right (CDN,and Mexico) and your family is in trouble one day and your not home or you need them to call 911, and both neighbors turn the other way, dont offer a hand, but you have had beers together and shared many good time together, but when needed they looked the other way. How would you feel? Canada/Mexico have let down the US in this time of need. They are our neigbor, we did NOT call 911. Many people in the US do not agree with there President but they all answer to there people ever 4 yrs like us. At the end of the day we should have standed shoulder to shoulder in the public and international seen with them. Even if we have not the muscle to help support with trrops, we should have been the first ones to help there troops in any capacity possible. We should have sent our tug boats full of Tim Hortons coffee, and Krispy cream donuts for them. THEY ARE OUR NEIGHBOR. Peroid !!!

P.S. if your so worried about there way of life, stop buying Coke, driving GM and supporting any American companies. Then I suggest you move to Europe or a thrid world country and start burning flags like the rest of those idiots who dont understand womens rights, freedom of speech, and love of all people. Oh, by the way, I would love to see you talk this openly over there if it was against them. Come on freind.....look at the bigger picture.

Well, here in Southern Ontario, the largest population block in the country, doctors are scarce. You can EASILY wait 6-8 weeks for anything. My mother has had excruciating pains in her side for over 8 months, and they have been scheduling scans and tests 3 months out. They still don't know what it is. And she is a nurse, in hospitals daily!!

Yes, the Doctors I've dealt with in Canada have generally been rushed and indifferent. I'll make one exception for a doctor I had for a year, when I lived in a small town of 20,000.

Ok, 50% tax is a bit high. I should have said 46% income tax. But don't forget health fees and 15% tax at the till on every consumer purchase!
    http://www.taxtips.ca/tax_rates.htm#FederalTaxRates

I understand your beef with the US. Just don't forget though, that to them, Canada is the prototypical example of the economic freeloader problem... they spend billions on defense, then Canada skimps because 'it doesn't have to spend now.'

We spend hundreds of millions to go into this war, that was started by the US under lies. And as for above, how can they admit a mistake when it's been a lie from the very start? The USA says "stand along side us". Then says "you are freeloaders". They have a machine running the country and from the very start Americans are told they are the best, at everything. They are the worlds keepers. This is done through school & business so when thery are adults, they don't know anything else.

    EVERYTHING I HAVE SAID ABOUT THE U.S.A. HAS BEEN AT THE VERY MOST HALF TRUE. Other things have been common crap we hear {things that have been said over time since I was a kid}. The point was, you can't force ans American to admit anything uneasy about their country. I posted questions and facts, that no one touched. {Better to let that go under the rug instead of pointing light at it I guess.}
I have American friends, I have American family members that have lived in the US their whole lives. I don't hate or dislike the USA. I think they give us some freedom to move around.

Their are a lot of Canadians who want to be American and vise versa. We live similar lives and have similar interests. But we are far and wide different people. I really think Americas only real problem is the way they think. Do you think the Romans ever thought things were gonna go to ****? The US for the most part has a shallow lifestyle. They work to keep it that way. There is nothing wrong with this. The problem lies when they think that this is the best way to live. "We are #1 and nobody screws with us"! <<< That has got to go! The very words selected when I hear them speak says it all. Their mind is set up to think they are the #1. And any problems they may have probably come from that mind set. I don't think I have heard an American ever say sorry or can I help. Walk into a store in the US, right behind someone, chances are they will close the door without even knowing your there. Not to be mean, not be piss you off, they just don't think of it. Little quirks like that give an impression that the US is snobby. I am far to tame to keep responding to this thread. If I upset anyone, Americans/ Canadians, well I guess I wanted to. Read all of my posts, ignoring the stereotyps and bickering and try to see what I should have only been writing.
The US has some very good points and some bad. Like every other country. And they will be on top for a very long time. Hopefully when they aren't on top any more, there will be no need for another country to take it's place.

    What happens if:
One day the US is not "the power". Some country topples them. And then what? The end of the world? Do you think the US can be number 2? or 5 or 25? Everyone needs to ease off the weapons and Army thing. The world is like a play ground and no kid wants to back down and someone is going to lose teeth.

I am very dissapointed at where this thread went. Grandstanding and insults. I may one day live in the US. And if things don't change I'll make damn sure people know I live there but I am not American.

Can't you read? I said "I don't hate or dislike the USA." But being American you are putting "your" spin on things. Either love us or hate us.
As business' grow, the need to expand into different markets may arise. I have no plans to cross the border now.

I LOVE Canada and Canadians...this is nothing wrong with political discourse or disagreement of issues...hell, I argue with my own family on politics...doesn't mean I love them any less....in fact some of my oldest friends are people I also consider ideological and political adversaries...doesn't keep me from hanging out with them, or inviting them to my BBQ's.

Neil, regardless of our political views, I'm sure we'd still get along fine. :)

It appears that no one is reading my posts. They get their nose crooked up near the top {by me} then skim my next posts to gather some ammo. I pretty much said most of these posts are half truths and stereotypes. Then I said if heads could come out of clouds, people could see why they are perceived a certain way. Yes America isn't out to take over the world. But it looks that way. Yes Americans aren't crazed fools with guns and bombs ready for action. But it looks that way. You can spend as much money as you want, but if you are out numbered 300M to 5.7B then it doesn't matter, you will lose. America needs to drop the "we are here to save you from yourselves" act and just say "hey we're looking for bad guys and we want to protect the oil, food and water supplies". I would have been 100% behind this war. If I wasn't lied to. If you want to tell me what you're up to, good. If not, just don't lie.
    I'm done.

So anyway...back to Canada's Navy...There is a great satirical article (www.satirewire.com/news) in the new book on Operation Apollo involving Canadian warships and boarding parties.

They 'interview' a tanker Captain and he wanted to know who gave Canadians guns and that damn warship. The U.N promised a swift investigation into who actually gave them the guns and initial findings indicate that the crew may have been watching too many American t.v. shows.

Armed and rude Canadians; What is the world coming to?

I totally agree - the one thing that should be sought after in all cases is the truth.

I'm guilty of lying on occassion, as I'm sure we all are. But I know it when I do, and usually it's more like... "Umm.. yeah baby that was my mom calling" not "We need to go spend half a trillion and kill 20,000 people because ... well they have WMD that they could launch in 45 minutes!!!".

Props for being real and demanding the same of our world leaders.

    62GTO,

Practice what you Preach. Your getting pissed because some people have said some stereotypical things about Canadians, yet you throw your own stereotypical comments right back at them. This all started with a little joke about the Canadian Navy, and you were immediately on the defensive! Relax a bit. Laugh about it. It was funny. Everything got heated when people started spitting back and forth. Truthfully, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was gonna be some comic about how pathetic the Canadian Navy is. I clicked on it because I dont mind a good laugh. I am Canadian.

IMO, Canada is the best place in the world to live. Thats why I live here. If someone wants to insult Canada, I couldn't care less. Its not gonna change the fact that this is the best place in the world to live (IMO) :) The USA? Awesome. It is my dream to one day own a place in the Colorado Rockies. I have vacationed in the USA and met some extremely nice people. As far as the health care and politics....I dont care. Im not gonna start fighting because I believe Canadian health care is better than American healthcare.

You can fight over the board as much as you want, but, 62GTO, I'd almost gurantee you would be able to sit down with anyone on this board in a bar, have a few drinks, and bull**** all night long. Its pointless and stupid to fight over this forum.
