Just won't crank at all, I thought about the imobiliser, but wasn't sure, can turn alarm off to get in no probs.

Can an CAT ECU problem cause this?

It might be the starter motor sticking. Hit the starter case with a hammer or put car in 1st gear and rock the car backward and forward, this might release the starter...

I had a similar problem on my '82 Mondial. The cause was traced to a dirty ignition switch wherein the contacts had a bit of corrosion. The switch was removed, the contacts cleaned & the problem resolved. It was an easy solution to a perplexing problem.

No -- i.e., I believe a cat ECU problem can inactivate an injection bank, but it can't prevent the starter motor from cranking the engine over when asked (if all else is OK). Are the connections at the back of the starter solenoid accessible (and are you interested in checking/doing some things yourself)?

It sounds like a immobiliser and/or maybe the alarm battery not working and de-activating incorrectly. Sometimes I have to press the alarm button on the key fob then crank the engine otherwise nothing happens just like a flat battery or a sticking starter.

If the starter motor was stuck, leaving it 10 mins would not fix the problem.

Good points from everybody. THANK YOU.

I will start with a new key fob battery and work upwards financially from there
