I am going to Nassau tomorrow for a few days and was wondering what fellow F-chatters have done in the Bahamas. I will be staying at Atlantis, which I hear is like an adult playground.

What about restaurants, bars, clubs, activities etc for a young individual like myself to do?

Also, if anyone on F-chat is located there we should meet up for a drink.

Oh yeah, there is a 50% chance of rain each day that I am there.

    You could play bangarelli.
A game I made up at, let's just say "band camp". Bangarelli has the word "bang" in it. And that is the truely important part of the word. The "Arelli" part is for when you're talking to your buddies and you are overheard, who's gonna know? :)

Hmmmm, I don't quite follow you. Please elaborate more on the rules of this game.

BTW, this might be the most ridiculous respone to a thread I have ever seen on this board. ROFLMAO!

Go to the straw market in Nassau. It's a little cheaper than gambling. Go see Lucy under the bridge going to Paradise Island and get the best conch salad in the Bahama's. She's in one of those wooden huts. The jewelery store in the hotel has some nice stuff for someone special. Do a day trip on a boat and go see highborn key and the iguana's . The diving is also good. You can rent jet skis at the beach. The poop deck at Nassau yacht haven used to have a good lunch fish sandwich.

Thats what I would be doing. And thinking of creative ways to bring lots home with me. LOL

I was smoking an AVO signature at dinner but dreaming of a San Cristobal.

Lol Tyler, funny that you said that because the first cigar I smoked was a Bolivar Robusto. When I went into the shop an employee started asking me what my preferences were as if I had no idea what I was doing. Probably because of all the wannabes who don't really have a clue. After we talked for a few minutes he realized that I was an aficionado of sorts.

When I bought the robusto he only charged me for the corona size. I thought it was quite cool that he gave me a slight break on the price. The smokes here are extremely expensive, but they have an OUTSTANDING collection.
I think I might go for a Romon Allones Gigantes tonight!
Oh yeah, they also have the new double robusto trinidads. They look great!

One other thing while I am online. Tyler, do you, or anyone else for that matter, have any Cuban rum recommendations?
Luckily they have wireless internet here so I can check again either later on tonight or in the morning.

Scuba in shark waters and get the video. If you go in a cage, you will soon get bored and realize that the sharks want nothing to do with you. That's when you will get some great footage!

John, glad you're having fun. :)

For the Ramon Allones try the Specially Selected(it's a robusto size), it is in my humble opinion one of the best cigars they produce.

For the rum I don't have any specific brand recomendations but I can give you a few pointers. Color is an important indicator.

White or very light(blanco) colored rum: indicates it has been aged in a steel tank versus wooden barrels. IMO it sucks. Some people like it for mixing drinks but personally I don't think you can make up for poor quality by trying to hide it.

Gold or light brown or honey colored: darker color indicates aging in oak barrels. Lends some aspect of spiciness or sweetness or both.

Dark or deep rich brown color: indicitive of many years of aging. IMO the best rums are very, very dark in color. Flavor is dependent on the brand and what flavor they are trying to go for. Some are very sweet and sometimes citrusy, while others are leathery and peppery.

Find a bar(local, not tourist) and try the different rums.

If you choose to return with cigars simply have the shop remove the bands and rebox them in a non-cuban cigar box. Most retailers will do this for no-charge. The prices for cigars are high, but as you found are very negotiable.

Have a great time and keep me updated on the cigars you're having. I love to hear about great experiences! :)

Thanks for the quick lesson, I will try tomorrow to get a few things if possible. Right now I am in a bar in the hotel and need to go grab a cigar. Sometimes too many choices make it tough;)

    Ike,
    Thanks!

I ran over to the casino area and the cigar shop was closed. Luckily I found someone in the casino walking around selling. She had some Cohiba robustos for $35. I found a beautiful one with the slightest crack in the foot and told her that she should let me have it for $20. SOLD!
I just lit it and am already past the defect after 5 minutes. Lol
