Seeing who may be interested (Vincent?) to buy one of my karts. I'll post a picture later today. I have a 2001 TonyKart with a fresh Yamaha KT100 engine for $1,000. The frame has been extended if you are tall. You will need to spend $125 for a starter and probably $100 in the near future for some misc tools (to remove the clutch, etc). It has a K&M oil clutch (required for racing) and extra side pods. It's a great kart in 'good' condition with good brakes. I am 205 and with the stock muffler, it goes 55 and 63 with a tuned pipe.

I am stepping up to a 125 (Yes Art, I may be able to keep up with you now!). This is a good price for an entry-level kart that you can have some real fun with!

Send me an email to [email protected] if you are interested.

    Pete

I will mount the fresh engine and include the blown engine with the sale. The core is worth about $100.

Hey Peter, that sounds like a great deal. I'm holding off for a bit though. The house project is really picking up and I've got a wild hair for a vintage car......

Peter: when is your next track day? I am interested, however, never having ridden a shifter I am not sure what all it entails. Knowing me, I'll be hooked and it'll be mine in short order...

It's not a shifter, just a straight clutch. I probably won't go to the track until it cools down to at least below 80 degrees. To damn hot otherwise with all the gear on.

Wait, I'll go look. Yep there it is, unfortunately the guy putting the rock on the road wants it first. :)

Here is the kart. The seat and the steering wheel are a bit tattered, but very usable. I will need to put the new engine in it. I also have an extra set of pods like the kart on the right. These pods are legal for racing as the yellow ones are not.

    Dan:

I wouldn't try to start in a shifter. Start in the 100.

    Peter:

I'm sure that you'll be fast in the shifter, but not right away. I won't have much to worry about until you get a little seat time. What are you getting?

I am getting an Energy kart with a 125 Parilla package. I'll pick it up next Friday, as Yazco will be going through it before delivery. It is a clutched kart, not a shifter. I am still a bit woozy about a 90MPH kart...I guess I'll get use to it! If my Tony kart does not sell, I will keep it as a third kart for friends. I really don't care one way or the other.

I was invited to go out to a track in Davis CA with 3 friends and 3 125 six speed shifter carts we were the only people at the track 2 of the carts had a push/ pull knob to shift and the other cart had levers on each side to shift I'm lucky I got to do this I now want a shifter cart the one I drove wasn't stock and was running race fuel God these things are fun! Talk about fast I didn't know what I was doing but I sure had a ball spun out about three times my cart was set up to over steer and you could use the throttle to hang the rearend out through the corners like a sprint car in the dirt not the fastest way through the corner maybe but it sure was entertaining Doug

I put the new engine in my kart yesterday and when I put the starter on it, it fired up and just about took my arm off! The engine 'stuck' after 4 seconds! Apparently, the guy I bought the engine from believed the guy he got it from that it had a new piston and rings (uh hu). I bought the engine for $400 and will now have to spend $750 for a REAL fresh rebuilt engine that I should have this week. I will now have to get $1350 for this kart. I won't sell it until I know the new owner will have a good engine that will be good for 30-50 hours without any problems (before a fresh top-end service will be needed that runs around $350).

    Check the pics!

If I bought it from Wayne, it would still be in his shop with parts missing that he sent out all over the country to be fabricated for his own line of kart parts. To make matters worse, he would have about $4K of my money and never deliver the kart and I would have to show up with cops after I get a small claims judgement that he bounced a check to me for on a closed account!

I'm up for a Buttonwillow on Saturday and an Atwater on a Sunday. Lets make a weekend out of it. I'm going to start looking for a sport trailer that could fit 4-5 karts, sitting area and a fridge. May as well do it right!

Now I'm tourqued! The 100cc rebuild will be either $260 or $400 (If I need a crank baring). I think I'm going to buy a second 125! Look out Art!
