Most or the time get one strike before there is a problem as long as it's not crystal clear. She is required to report you or tell you that your comment made her uncomfortable before your in trouble. And it's up to the girl, I had thing going with one of the girls at work with the mail. When she was walking over to the other building to check mail, she would ask if I wanted her to do me today or some variation of that. We both thought it was funny. But at a pervious company a woman overheard me talking with a friend, he ask me what I thought of his girl friends friend and I said I wasn't interested because she was to heavy....called into HR to talk about being more sensitive. You just never know.

 

If you have to ask then more then likely you should stay away from it.

If so, why not just start a thread called "I banged a chick on my desk and I'm really proud, but, should I go for round 2?"

Or, "Here's a stupid thread about sex on my desk masquerading as a plea for help."

Perhaps, "Bad sex causes co-worker to quit."

Maybe, "Yee Haa, I Actually had sex! Sorry, no pix."

I agree. With everything except for the part that it sucks - Until you walk in the shoes of the recipient you have no idea how much more it sucks to be on the receiving side of harrassment than having to comply with "the way it is now". I'm sure your mother, sister, or wife could tell you a tale or two.

If anyone got caught with that in my office, they'd get a stern warning the first time, and a dismissal the second time around. Plain and simple.

 

Where I last worked, there would be no warning to it -- porn is expressely forbidden, and I would have been out on my butt, first time.

My wife, retired FBI agent, saw plenty of harassment while there in the 80's. Needless to say, the old boy network there wasn't really welcoming to female agents. She foolishly though that catching the bad guys would be the only tough part of her job.

At work, I've seen it all.

Women filing claims agains men because they wouldn't make a pass at them. (That was a lot of fun to sort out.)

Women who wore tons of perfume because they knew the guy working next to them was allergic. (They got warned, and stopped, he eventually moved on to another job with my help.)

A woman who made fun of a very shy employee about his sex life. (She got fired.)

A man who thought putting up posters of overweight women in bikinis was funny. (He got fired, too.)

A woman who threatened to kill a co-worker becuase she didn't like the way he "looked" at her. (They both had a nice chat with the local police and got notes in their employee files. She eventually got fired for threatening others.)

A guy who suggested a fellow employee (female) should pay him for sex. (fired)

I could go on. 25+ yerars of owning a business has put me on the front lines of harassment, sexual and otherwise.

It is unfortunate that the climate at all workplaces now prohibits an employee from telling another employee that "you look nice today" because it may be construed as harassment, instead of a simple compliment. Almost any friendly remark can be taken as harassment. "How was your weekend" can be read as, "was the sex good?" Our policy is very simple. Don't say it because "What ever you say, can and will be used against you in a court of law."

Finally, if you think it must be a terrible place to work for me, I have 30 employees, more than half have worked for me in excess of 15 years, and one has been with the company since the end of the Korean War. My office staff enjoy their jobs, and have expressed thier desire to work there until I retire, whenever that may be.

Here's one.
My girlfriend was at work one day, when she got something in the mail. When she opened the envelope it was a picture of a large hand. Well, the next day this guy e-mailed her and said did you get my package the other day? She told him yeah, what's that about? He said, "If you think my hand is big, guess what else is big?" What a dumb F'!
