    Hi

It has been reported (on performanceforums.com) that an F40 was seen on the motorway returning from Bathurst on the weekend and that the same car was seen at Oran Park a few months back.

Does anyone know if this is the same F40 that was at SVM early this year..with an asking price of $850,000?

Mahir Algadrie uses his F40 quite a lot. The one seen was his and is a very good example. Cat non adjust. Very low Km.

I did a cambelt service last year, but his race team have been tinkering with it since.

He has also done a few track days in his F40LM GTE now, and it'll hopefully be seen at a club event soon. If it does, it'll be the first time anywhere for ages that 2 F40 LM's have shared tarmac, as another club member uses his regularly too...and he also has an F40 road car in regular use.

I was lucky enough to see the other F40 LM and a F40 in action earlier in the year at Calder. A real joy to behold. Another couple of F40s were also present at the Grand Prix.

I saw one parked in Double bay about 10 yrs ago. I was wondering how they were legally allowed on the road being LHD and all?!

Basically they need to be registered by the Ferrari club, and 'legally' your only allowed to drive them on the road to and from club events....

Actually the clubs do have something to do with it.

First the car has to be on the FIA homologation list.

Then an established and recognised car club, along with a recognised automobile expert have to sponsor your application for a club licence on the basis that your car is of some significance, or something along those lines..

You will then get a licence that can be used to and from club events, and for "testing purposes" on public roads.

This applies to any car, Ferrari, Pagani whatever, as long as it has some automotive/racing/historical significance.

Crap. I don't know what you're on about, but I thought we were talking about driving F40s and F50s etc on the road on occasion. You just put on dealer plates and/or get a temp permit and that's it....in Victoria anyway.

Why don't you tell us what you did with yours....did you use dealer plates? Whose? If VIC roads get wind of the abuse of trade plates, they'll withdraw them pretty quick, which would be a major headache for the dealer, as would the fine be.

This is an interesting subject though....what IS the correct legal procedure for driving LHD cars in VIC, or other states....and I mean LEGAL, straight up, no funny business.

Dealer plates and temp permits have strict conditions to prevent the use of them as a way of registering a vehicle if you want to drive it around for a day or two. Yes, you can get away with a bit of stuff, but if you have an accident, don't expect your insurance company to be the one bending over.

It is more than likely that each state has their own rules, (eg in WA we can drive 15 year old LHD cars with no restrictions) In WA at least, the right way to do things is as I mentioned previous via a club licence.

WA might be a good option for registering a15 year old F40 in a few years.....

I don't know of any legal way. That certainly doesn't mean there isn't one...not for a modern car.
