So now we see it. Do you think:

    1) 360 prices go up, as people rush to buy up the last of the curvier and already popular 360

    or

    2) 360 prices stall and drop, as people cancel their late '04 and '05 360 orders (or merely don't buy a used one) to wait for the 430

Ok, armchair automotive quarterbacks, what's the call here?

down down down, keep in mind how many they made.

IMO only the CS has a chance of being a collectable.

I think the market moves in anticipation, not in reaction to news. The F430 has not been a secret. I considered it's arrival before ordering my 04 360. I don't anticipate a huge move one way or the other.

Even if I wildly liked it, I wouldn't buy one in the first model year. But I don't wildly like it.

So I won't be switching any time soon.

This is EXACTLY what will happen. 360 Spider prices will float a bit longer (corresponding with the release of the 430 spider relative to the 430M)

By the way, will there still be a 2005 360 coupe?? Are the 430's coming out as 2006's ?? Usually Ferrari sticks closer to a calendar year based model designation than other manufacturers.

Was there a case the previous model of Ferrari's price increased after the release of new model? I thought all prices sort of decrease, some dropping quite a lot w/in a year of releasing new model.

I haven't investigated on this subject, so it's just my assumption.

If you remember when the 360 came out 355's shot way up. Some dealers (not just one or two) were asking over 150k (and getting it) for 355 spiders. I have no idea what will happen this time but if the waiting list is anything like the 360 list was, I can not imagine prices going down for awhile.

I have a feeling that the 360 spider and coupe price will fall hard. The CS will still hold its value for a while but you have to remember that the 360 production numbers are much much higher than of the 355.

I do not think they will fall hard so to speak, I think they might become more realistic. 01 spiders are still bringing over list (not realistic) so I think that late model 360 will still far pretty well, early cars more likely to take a hit. I remember there were alot of 355's around in 99 (at good prices) than suddenly they were all at dealers with boosted numbers on them.

I think they will stay flat on later model 360's but 99 thru 01 will see a drop.
The reason being those you can't get a decent time of delivery for the 430 will be forced to purchase later model 360's but only time will reveal the reality.I don't think the CS will fair much better than the other's

I see 360 prices coming down about 5% but not more....The 360 doesnt sell on performance..it sells beacuse it imo is the best looking mass production Ferrari ever built. I bet you 4 out 5 average people think it is the most beautiful car on the road.

I think this is an exagerration, BUT....

I am one of those people who thinks the 360 is the most beautiful car -- nay... the most beautiful inantimate object EVER created.

HOwever, I still think you're incorrect about prices only falling 5%... There are lots of people who think the 355 is the most beautiful car ever made?

A better comparison would be to look at what happen to the 348 when the 355 came out. The 355 is a revision of the 348 much like the 430 is to the 360. Compairing the price drop from a 328 to a 348 is incorrect imho.

Outside of the cosmetics, you get a heavier car that is offset by the increased hp. The main benefit is that the new car has chains for the timing belt so the 3 year major is no longer needed.

With the belt service on the 360 costing between $1200 and $1500 I don't think it's a major issue.

I don't know - I'm sure it turns some people away who have "heard" that Ferraris are servicing nightmares
