Actually, there are rare, limited edition and complicated watches worth that kind of discretionary $$.

    This one isn't

My thoughts exactly. Is anyone else thinking Patek Philippe Minute Repeater? Perhaps with a perpetual calendar? :)

IMO, you'd have to be crazy to buy a Rolex that expensive from a grey market dealer (i.e. no warranty) over the Internet!

I found it amusing when I read the words "understated elegance" in that link. Could this watch be any less understated, aside from it being completely covered in diamonds?

Although, I'd have to say the following example takes the cake as the least undertstated, most pimpin' blingin' watch known to man.

Introducing the new Rolex "Pimp My Watch" Cosmograph! :D

My dream watch is the rose gold PP minute repeater with Tourbillon. i regret not buying a used one two years ago that went for a STEAL at about $85k at auction.

I don't particularly know why, but that is the only diamond watch that I've liked. Something very sleek about it. Or maybe its just because I really like that dial.

But give me another one of these Harwood over that Rolex anyday. Something much more satisfying about history than bling.

Yea, that's the ticket! I'm going to send a couple hundred K to someone on the internet for a watch that I haven't seen. My name is SUCKER.

  16. Very taystless it screams rapper, gigallo or sports celebrity. I would rather get a Cartier Roadster chronograph and then get 355 with the left over money.

The watch pictured is not a repeater with tourbillon. Its a lowly 5029. :)
$85K would be an amazing deal for 5029 or 3939H.

Here is a pic of my 2,the first is a 18CT Rolex Day/Date with Presidential and the other is a Patek Phillipe Annual calender in yellow gold Type number(ref.)5035,IMHO timekeeping wise there is nothing really in it but I like both of them for different reasons, the Rolex is loud and screams at You but the P.P. is elegant and is reserved. However I love them both and would never consider either any other make of watch(perhaps Breuget).

It"s the extra for the postage that cracks me!!

  21. Typical Boring Rolex much bling good to put in the safe not wear.. I rather get a gorgous Cartier Pasha with custom diamond bezel and a Roadster Cornograph for daily wear. And then a couple other's on the side for rare occasions.

I'd suggest a more subdued piece, like a Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon.

Hmm, A buck seventy is alot of cash.
Rolex or a 360? Not a hard choice at all...but odds are if you are thinking about buying that watch you already have a 360.
The only clock i would spend over $500 on is this one, but its not for sale and the guy who made it was intentionally blinded by the one who commisioned its building so it could not be reproduced, which in turn led to the maker throwing himself into the clock mechanism. Of course this happened 600 years ago, but I think its a cool story.
