I usually drive my 360 around the city of Toronto and occasionally I head on to the highway. I decided to head on to the highway today. I accelerated relatively quickly on the ramp to the highway and I noticed the needle on the Engine Oil Temperature gauge was rising fairly quickly to the red line area and a red light went on in the gauge. The temperature was very high and then it slowly came back down to the middle of the gauge (still higher than what it was before I got on to the highway). The Engine Water Temperature was acutally going down to about 80 degrees C from 100 before I got on to the highway.

I had this problem before and I took the car to the dealer and they said that it was an electronic malfunction or some failure of something electronic. They said that it shouldn't happen again.

But what really got me worryed today was the fact that the Engine Water Temperature started to rise gradually to very high temperatures (not at the redline area though). I didn't have the car out for a long time (an hour or so maximum) and it was only 23 degees outside!

I was wondering if anyone has had this same problem and it so, how did you lower the engine water and oil temperatures. I currently do not have a Challenge Grill on my 360, should I consider getting one? Will it help lower the temperatures greatly?

Sounds like you need to take it to the dealer...it could be the cooling fans are not turning on. The temps drop on the freeway, because you are forcing more cooling air through the radiator and oil cooler....

The Challenge grill will probably not make a difference. I have run into this problem only one other time and it was due to the type of bra the customer had put on the car thus restricting the air flow to the radiators. Coolant level OK?

I don't have the rear grill. I've done thousands of miles of high-rev driving and never had an over-heating problem. In fact, just last weekend I did a high-revving 250 mile back roads drive in 90-100 degree weather -- no problems.

So I don't think your problem is caused by the lack of a grill. I'd let the dealer sort it out -- and soon!

There is a common problem with the oil.temp sending unit. There have been others including myself complain about it a while back. Sometimes the oil pressure sending unit also gets affected and reads 0 even though there is plenty of actual oil and pressure.

I had the same problem today....I hit about 140 and change on an open stretch of highway....

Right after i slowed down to about 80 or so...the oil temp shot up to the redline...went back down...and up and down??

At the same time...when i stoped and was on idle...oil pressure would go to 0 with a redlight warning..

I looked at the engine and the oil cap was almost OFF...i tightened it up and it's been fine ever since..but scared the S*** out of me...
