After reading about Dr. S's 348 being stolen (attempted) and Jttomas' NSX being ripped off, I called my ol' buddy Dave Soderquist at Sodacom's.

Less than 36 hours later, I'm hooked up with a Hill Engineering shift-gate lock!! Yes, if somebody really wants the car, they can still find a way to steal it. This will however, slow them down considerably.

    Thanks Sodacoms!

Let me recommend one other product. The bar thing for the brake or clutch. Its like the club but it goes under the pedal and makes it impossible for whomever to depress the clutch/brake to steal it. It is hard as hell to try and steal, of course a professional will find a way, but it is definitely worth the money.

    Yeah, about 20-30 seconds!

And if they're amateurs, you'll also have lots of damage to deal with...

It is sad you even have to worry about that.....Hopefully this will keep you safe Daniel......along with a 3000 watt 900db alarm system. I'm not sure how an alarm system gets along with a Ferrari's electrical system, but I'd have something installed just in-case.

Your in luck. Your Alarm system, if set, controls the engine ecu for the 1-4 bank. They would have to have your remote to start the car.

I recall that many years ago, the rise of car-jackings was attributed to the spread of car alarms. If a non-pro wanted the car, he had to wait until the owner unlocked it, then appropriate it with a sawed off shotgun.

I asked about having an alarm in my 328 & the dealer said it would compromise the electrical system. Is this true?

Nice ideas. But just one thing to remember: the easiest way to steal your Ferrari is to wait behind the car until you approach, show you a gun or a knife, get the key from you - done. This is why I don't care about this security stuff. If someone really wants your car, he gets it. In such a situation I will be happy to offer the keys. In the end it's just a car and you can buy another one. But you can't buy anything when you're dead.

Staring at the wrong end of a gun, you can be sure I'll hand over the keys. Quite honestly, people who steal cars are the genetic sludge of our society, and with them behind the wheel of a Ferrari, the odds are higher that they'll kill themselves sooner, rather than later.

If someone wants the 365, I'd gladly give them the keys. If they can start it, they can have it.

Old Ferraris have their own "built in" anti-theft system. ;)

Reminds me of when I owned my 308 GTS. I had it stored in a portable building, and someone broke in pryed the sterring wheel down to expose the ignition wire to try and hot wire it......Good old Ferrari, it wouldn't start for them and they had to give up cuz they didn't have the touch...Tore up my car though!

I have an 83 308 and the lock doesnt work. I don't even bother to get it fixed. I have no experience breaking into cars but even with the door locked it looks like a piece of cake to get into. If they are going to take the car I would prefer they not tear it up to get into it because if they want to get into it they will. Even if they just wanted the radio I would rather them just open the door and take it then break in and take it.

That's the coolest thing I have ever seen. Less obtrusive and difficult to handle than those "clubs"....etc....but still an effective visual deterrent, and practical to boot !!

The last time I heard about exotic cars getting stolen up in these parts.....the thieves used a flat deck.....no anti-theft system helps you then unfortunately.

But I will continue to leave my 348ts unlocked at work and in my driveway. And on warm days with the roof panel off and the windows down. The car just isn't worth enough money for me to start getting paranoid.

I took out my cigarette lighter and installed a custom kill switch in there, basically when u depress the lighter, the car wont start, but when u put the lighter to "on" position the car will start.
