ticket me yellow

I can't speak for all of the law enforcement community, but I can say that the 13 years I spent in uniformed patrol (SF Bay Area) the cars that got the tickets were the ones that were speeding, no matter what brand or color.

We looked more to the smooth flow of traffic rather than specific speed, so if a 'flock' of cars were going 80 mph down the freeway, and were doing so without safety issues, than that was a 'safe' environment and no enforcement action taken; HOWEVER, if the flow was 65 mph and you are doing 75 mph, and having to weave in and out of lanes,tailgating etc in order to maintain your 'above the flow' speed, you get nailed.

I drove my red 308 all over the southwest, I-25, I-40, RT66, I-15, I-70 in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and Arizona, took some small roads driving to tiny communities, cities and villages; spent nights in Green River Utah, Gallup NM, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Flagstaff, Kingman AZ and so on.....and NEVER had any issues with the cops.......but I drove 'with the flow' for the most part - heck I even parked between 3 NM State Police cars at the Giant truck stop E of Gallup (wish I had a pic of that- 2 patrol cars, my 308 and then another patrol car all parked next to each other!).

 

I can honestly say i have not had any problems in the years i've had my yellow 355.While the car certainly attracts enough attention,as long as one drives responsibly,the color shouldn't cause any problems.Besides , life's too short to worry about whether or not the police are going to notice you more or less than some other car. NO ferrari is going to go unnoticed.Choose the color you want.

 

I think naturally a brighter color will get you into trouble quicker if you're speeding. Mine is titanium and I feel like I'm attracting attention if I'm driving with a group of brighter cars. If you really like a brighter color then you have to live with this theory and what goes along with it.

 

I have a yellow Ferrari. It's a happy color, like a smiley face...

I once had a female Sheriff screach to a stop, hop out of her cruiser, run over to where I was throwing my empty beer bottles away , and INSIST she sit in it!!!! Now THAT made a pic, and scared the heck out of my date.....

I also have a blue one that does not attract so much attention, but still gets the "that's beautiful" comments at the stoplight.

As stated above, the main thing is to obey traffic laws, maintain your Safety Inspections and license plate registration....AND PUT THAT FRONT PLATE ON!!!!!

They are getting real serious about that around here.....

How about "arrest me red"????? LOL!

 

Of course with yellow you have to live with comments like:

"Excuse me sir, I think you left your paint job turned on..."
I throw a car cover on it........

 

I've driven every color as a salesman........so I'd say no........it's the driving that catches their eye.

Having said that....no one is lining up to buy brown cars either.

 

Most people would agree with you except I. I was heading down on 280 south of 92 interchange where I saw a motorcycle CHP issuing a ticket to a green Escort. I thought to myself they work in twos so there's go to be another one around... Sure enough 1/2 mile later another motorcycle CHP had his helmet on and was talking to lady driver in a black sl500 on the side of the road. I was going with the flow of traffic at the far lane next to a small pick up truck. The trooper only glanced at me, few hundred yards away and I saw him walking back to his bike. Never made anything out of it and continued to drive as I was... When I cleared the Edgewood exit I opened it and exited a few miles later at Sandhill, drove all the way to Sandhill and Santa Cruz and saw a trooper behind me. He was shaken up and said did you see the troopers on 280 and I said yeas, way up there about 12-13 miles ago. He said I was one of them... To make the long story short he said he was doing about 140MPH and he could not catch up with me, at any time I could see if the trooper behind me. The freeway was empty. Anyway, he claimed he saw me taking the Sandhill exit about 80 MPH although he was at least a mile away and showed me with his hand how I maneuvered the exit. I did argue with him (useless), and he wrote me up for 85MPH and not having front and rear license plates. The guy thought to himself that I was going to speed and came after me even though I was going about 70MPH with the flow of traffic (280 normal speed is about 85). I ended up dismissing the ticket but it goes to show you if I was driving a silver car this would not have happen (at least in my mind).

 

This is the bullsh|t I hate about cops. YOU are the one violating the law by doing 80, but THEY are OK to rip it up to 140 in pursuit of you without consequence. OK, I forgot...cops are better, safer drivers because of all that training they get.

My most recent ticket was 40 in a 25. I saw the blue lights bearing down on me a a VERY high speed. He must have been doing 70 in a 25 to catch me (a mile or so away at the time). Again, it's fine for them to do it. Jerkoffs.

 

see a doctor. they have medication that may help you (i'm kidding of course) then buy a radar detector (gives you a sporting chance) and drive your ferrari and enjoy the experience. if you happen to get a ticket from time to time it's not a big deal...annoying yes, but not worth letting the fear of it stop you from enjoying life a little.

 

That's probably a matter of where you drive, as well as how.

In south Jersey, we used to say that red Alfas come factory equipped with a cop car in the rear view mirror. A decade ago, they used to say that VA beach cops only go after cars with "flip up" headlights. So far, I've never even been pulled over in the black 328 -- but then, the black ones show all the fingerprints after they've been parked.

In some towns, speeding tickets are just an additional "road tax". The only ticket I got in the last 15 years was for 40 in a 30 zone -- on a road most people take at 50 or more. It was the only time I ever saw a cop on that road, and he ignored the SUVs and pulled over the old Alfa (and wrote the ticket for 45 (grr)). But that was probably more because the old Alfa pre-dated shoulder harnesses, and he couldn't tell I was wearing my lap belt until he pulled me over. (The speeding ticket may have just been to cover "probable cause".)

But if you really want blue attention, get a ricer with a big honkin' wing. In a year, I've been followed uncounted times in the EVO in MA, and pulled over twice (once for 20 in a 25). In two weeks in VA, the EVO has already been tailgated by two different Arlington cops. I guess when they see I'm not speeding, it reassures them that I can see out of the back, so they move on. (Sorry, guys, but the speed conformance has more to do with synchronized traffic lights than the light bar in the rearview.)

 

Gentlemen this is a 2 part issue . The first being the ARREST ME RED principle which has to do with stand out visual contact. Bright color have a tendency to be spotted 1st where as other colors blend in with the background. That is why Silver is the most purchased car color with Red being down near the bottomof the list. The next issue is and EXOTIC sports car which Ferrari takes high honors. The thought process here is a high percentage of the people who own these cars have a higher tendency to speed or drive in a wreckless manner. Stats show these type of cars get involved in high speed accidents. Also the ability to afford the ticket price is there. So you boys have fun with your toys but stay with the flow and don't follow the rabbit to close. Use the radar detectors and when alone on the road stay in the right hand lane . You will also find that older Police will cut you a break because they just want to see the car up close while the new young guns don't think anyone should own a car of that nature so they bang you.

 

I have a yellow 328; had a red one before that. The only time a policeman ever talked to me was to tell me my brake lights and turning signals were out (a recurring problem in the red car - since remedied). Very, very nice guy and no ticket.

 

I haven't gotten one yet.

 

I think Insurance statistics will show that RED cars are the most ticketed.

 

That is a fact. However, there are many more red cars than yellow. The human eye notices the following colors quickest:

Yellow
orange
red
These colors actually cause discomfort to the eye, and that is why the eye notices them first.

That is why caution signs and the lines in the road are yellow/orange. So it is natural to assume that yellow cars will be "noticed" by the eye quicker than any other color, and if you are doing something unlawful, have a good chance of a ticket.
