The ad states that the VIN# is actually ZFFXR48A7X0116249 for #23.

    Guys,

By all means keep a record of the whole VIN, (If you want), but the important bit is the last 6 digits in the 355's case, Just it's serial number.

I have already noticed that the S/N's and Fiorano Plaque Numbers are not in order, not that unusual for Ferrari, but there are BIG difference's here ?

    Example :

    116520 Fio # 65
    116521 Fio # 25
    116534 Fio # 88

    Regards,

    Seb

Thanks Seb...This is a very cool post...I rarely ever check this section. I am usually bouncing b/w general, technical and NY Tri-state. Can I suggest putting another thread in General...we may pick up a few leads there as well. This is a great idea. My vin is ZFFXR48A3X0116507 and it currently has 5300 miles (bought it in May w/4100)
I have a list of Fioranos.

Please feel free to call me anytime at 973-884-9161 or email [email protected]

    Thanks!

    Hi guys,
I live in london but have a lhd european 355 f1 spider. Its vin is 116787. This implies it was later than the fiorano series? I understood these were the last 100 made. confusing!

May I suggest that you gather top colors seperate from int/ext colors (since those also can vary).

I know of 3 that were at one time in the Bay Area (no other info than what's coming off the top of my head - but I will try to contant the owners all of whom I have met).

    Blue/blue int/blue top
    Yelllow/Black
    Dark Grey/Black (I think)

    Andy,

Your car is indeed a later 355 than the Serie Fiorano cars. because it a 355F1 as opposed to a F355 fitted with a F1 Transmission, I'll explain !

The last F355 Spiders to come off the line were the Serie Fiorano fitted with all the carbon fibre trick bits that are listed here plus a few other things, (at present it's unsubstantiated that there were 104 cars in this spec?), Most of the Serie Fiorano's were fitted with the F1 Box but not all, at that time it was still optional.

Following these cars, came the 355F1 cars, a 355 that was only fitted with the F1 transmission, no other option was available.

So the F355 Serie Fiorano's were the last of the F355 and I suppose they could be viewed as the prototipo's of the 355F1.....But that would be stretching it ?

    Hope this clarifies,

    Reagrds,

    Seb

    Boxer512,

is this only in euro cars?
what about the 98 355f1's here in the US?

Sorry, But I think your comments are wrong

I beleve that the 100 US and 4 eura fioano's were a promo to interduse the 360 cupe in the US.

wile the last 100 355's headed for the us were Fioano's , the production off 355 for the rest of the world labord on for a few mounth's

My 355 fiorano was built May 99,

    Mike

    Seb,

that makes some sense to me. Tho is confusing and probably annoying to Fiorano owners! Thanks! ps were they badged differently on the back versus an earlier f355 f1? I think mine says 355 f1 spider.

    Mike,

my car was made in jul/aug 99 and registered in may 2000, which fits in with the comments above

355's equipped with 6-speed manual gearboxes were badged with just "F355" (berlinetta or spider variants). 355's with F1 gearboxes had badges that dropped the "F" before 355 and added "F1" followed by berlinetta or spider.

Mike, was that taken from Cavallino? Guess I was right about 104 Fioranos.... several people have argued that figure.

In May 1999 I put a deposit on one of these spyders with Ogner Motors in S.Cal. The serial # that I was assigned, and that was issued to my Bank was the same as for #1/100. After a 3 month song and dance, I found out after complaining to FNA, that Rick Black, the salesman that I was dealing with at Ogner had sold this vehicle to someone else in 6/99. They then purchased another one through a broker on the East Coast... #116493 which corresponds to #47/100 my present vehicle. I finally received it in 8/99. It now has 22K miles on it having just been driven from San Francisco to New York this past month on its own power. It proved to be utterly reliable, cruising at speeds of 170 and 175 mph, for long periods of time in many Western states. To those of you who only drive your fine Italian cars on nice summer weekends and/or garage them and keep them wrapped up in plastic, may the Gods keep you from purchasing another one for practicing this foolishness..

A an aside and as an indicator of the type of dealerships that I have been subjected to, in 6/99 I placed an order for one of the then new 360's with the former Ferrari of Los Gatos. I was living in Northern California. I was issued position # 25 meaning I would receive vehicle #25 from their allotment. Probably a 3 year wait according to FNA considering their small allotment. At the end of that time period, I was again song and danced into waiting a 4th year and they lost their dealership status. I never did receive my 360 from them and FNA did little to help.
