no, 2005 models always come out in 2004, 2004 models always come out in 2003, etc

it's definitely very nice. some parts of the interior i prefer over my dad's c4s but overall i don't, also i prefer the c4s exterior. in any case, im sure this is a more refined, better-engineered drive

today was actually the very 1st day, the debut, free drinks and food :)

The first generation of PCCB was the one with issues, nobody ever complained about the 997 pccb.
( i think some magazine tested it, and it stopped faster than a CGT)

thanks for the info, but how could you complain about something that just came out a day ago (the 997) ?

how long has it been out for the rest of the world?

Saw this at Hendrick Porsche last week.. very nice car, the interior rocks. The brakes don't seem worth it... 8k for brakes that you don't really need. A Carrera can stop just fine, and if you slam on the brakes in traffic you'll just get rear ended anyways, seems like a major waste.

The one I sat in had a sticker of 100k! Too much for a coupe!

In europe it was released at July 17, and by now just about every magazine got a chance to test it.
No complains whatsoever, in fact many said they overbraked before turns, and had to accelerate again :)
Apparently Porsche will be using the PCCBs on their GT3 Cup cars next season. They've been using steel until now

One can never have too much stopping power :D

the problem with PCCB isn't stopping distance or power. the PCCB brakes were and presumably will continue to be eminently capable in this regard.

the problem is that they just don't hold up. most especially, they were unable to reliably handle track use on the 996s (GT2, GT3).

many folks have opined that the core problem was that the 996 was not engineered with proper air flow to the brakes - and this lack of cooling is what triggered PCCB failures on the track (and elsewhere). hopefully the 997 rectifies this. there are a lot of pissed off GT2 and GT3 owners right now, with some attempting to get class action status for lawsuits.

    doody.

hate the wheels... the more i look at it the more i hate it.... are those the optional 19wheels or are those standard on the s..what was porsche thinking... did chris bangle design those? i love the rest of the car though... but for 100k.. iwould get a gt3 in a second...i image the new p cars prices will drop like a rock after the hype dies... porsche tend to flood the market with their cars.... they made as many 996s as chevy made vettes some years....

i think the wheels are hideous. yet another attempt by porsche to gouge customers by effectively structuring a MANDATORY wheel upgrade as part of your purchase. i'm sure they have a nice, handy-dandy brochure of your other options available at substantial extra cost! :)

gt3 prices are already moving down. dealers are still receiving cars for a few more months apparently. it's only gonna get worse (or better for you!) on 'em. they're way-over-producing them.

yes, i am well-aware of all of this but thanks doody.

by the way the porsche salesman was very quick to tell us that the PCCB brakes would be guaranteed for the lifetime of the vehicle UNLESS you tracked it :)

hey if you guys dont like the wheels just change them, everything would be great.

doody - why do you say the optional wheels are mandatory?
