90 TR Finally had a chance to take the car out this weekend - sat for two weeks - notice the pressure light coming on above 4k - check oil level, seem to be a little low so i topped it off - after letting the oil warm to 210 i ran it up passed 5k where everything seem to be fine - then back to normal driving and the light came on again passed 4k .... Dont understand why its coming on - do i need to add oil to bring it up closer to Max ? ? Or is there some adjustment that needs to be made ?
Maybe a faulty sender. Hook a mechanical gauge up and see what happens. Did that to my 355 and found the gauge to be off by ~ 25 psi. Pete
I'm great at making suggestions ..... I have a 96 355, and the way I did it was to remove the sender unit ... just south of the oil filter, then bought a crossover to get from the 'sender thread' to the standard thread of mechanical gauges from places like Autozone etc. I'm not familiar with the TR set up, but a good start would be close to the oil filter. My biggest challenge was to find the crossover.... metric to pipe thread. Regards, Pete
On my 308 the no oil pressure light switch started to leak oil through the switch just after start up causing the light to come on as pressure built up then at idle it would sometimes go off as the pressure fell. Easy to see as there is oil all over the top of the engine. Changed the switch, problem solved.
What's the analog oil pressure gauge doing? If it's behaving OKish, I think you can replace the warning light sender without regret. If it's telling you the same thing that the warning light is (no pressure at higher RPM) -- not good...
John, Just curious.... you had posted a tech question about your 1984 Boxer on another thread. (http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29314) So, do you also own a 1990 TR?? Gary
