Hey Thanks for all the info on the 308s I really learned alot. Seems like alot of you like the QV's. I like the 80-82 but the 83 has that front spoiler that sticks down to far for me. Nitpicking i know but. I do think it is different. The earlier ones are more subtle. Arent they?

The stock front spoilers for US spec cars should be the same. I think the deep spoiler you refer to is the Euro type.

Righto you are, on US cars it was an option. Might even have been on Euro cars; not quite sure.

I personally like the US QV, others don't like the US bumper...
I personally like the QV radiator grill, others don't

Hi i have a 1984 Ferrari 308 QV and am looking to replace the oil. Does anyone know what the best oil is to put in these old cars?

You're going to get a lot of "Flak" for asking a question like that...
The topic has already been discussed "ad nauseam" on this forum, to the point that, like the other question "when do I have the timing belts changed", it is almost considered rude to ask the question...
Use a search engine, and "308 oil change" and you should find some answers (hint: there are as many answers as there are owners).

Any high quality modern synthetic oil should be fine, such as " Shell Helix Ultra synthetic 10W60 Racing", but there are many other alternatives...almost as many as there are owners.

Depending where you are in the world, closest to the original factory recommendation is ENI (Agip) iSint 10W-40. And its cheap compared to many other recommended alternatives.
It's what I use since 25 years. Formerly Agip Sint 2000, they changed their brand name many years ago, now iSint 10W-40, which is the direct replacement for the old Sint 2000.

    omg another oil-thread? :)

More on-topic: For the later (injected) cars I like the QV most of course. That's why I bought one.
Not all QV's have the deep front spoiler.
I think it was also an optional extra in Europe. The official brochure shows both front spoilers, so the smaller one and also the deep version.
Downside to the 2V GTBi/GTSi is of course that they have less power than the carb and QV cars. But this has also been discussed a million times already.

For the purest and cleanest looks I really love the early steel carb GTB's with the small metric wheels, single exhaust and no spoilers.

Now, that you mention it? What‘s the current agreement regarding cambelt replacement intervals? :)

That has nothing to do with the model year. It was an option on the QV.

It depends on which transmission fluid you use.

At the risk of sounding like a Neanderthal, I must confess I have great trouble decerning the differences between the various grades ; virgin, extra virgin, etc. To me, it doesn't matter which oil.

Asking about oil on a thread that was last posted in 18 YEARS AGO where the main discussion was the front chin spoiler on the QV 308. There has to be some kind of record that is broken here.

I'd add that there were many aftermarket US vendors selling "deep 308 spoilers" (that might even be a little different in design than the euro deep 308 spoiler) so what's on any US 308 now is rather variable.

Because I want to ad to the chaos, there’s only one motor oil. When I hear chin spoilers I start thinking about porn search words

I have an 83 with the deep spoiler, In my opinion the shallow spoiler looks better
