this is not an advertisement For years (15) I have wanted to open a performance salon for exotics. I made my first post to see if I would be going into a saturated market. From the answer I got and the lack of any information on the net for such and outfit, I see that it is a marginal market. I havent fully made my mind about it. I wanted a facililty that offered: 4 wheel dyno easy access well stocked appearal section performance tuning ecu reprogramming real performance wheel selection exhuast up grade brake upgrade suspension upgrade where availible I realized by reading forza and watching this forum that the average 308 (jalpa, 911,and e36 included) owner would not be visiting me. but for the person that really wanted a little more edge I wanted to be able to offer it. still in all I havent decided. I need a 6 bay shop with show room in a low tax(property) area near I294. and so far the only place that falls inline with that would be Alsip and im not to thrilled about that location. hope this thread is well received and I appreciated feedback Thanks, Art
You'll find that quiet a few of the exotic car owners like to keep their car original, with the exception of exhaust and MAYBE wheels.
Well I would beg to differ with that statement. But anyway, Massivespeed, welcome to the board. Your message sounds a little bit like an ad, so you should know, that FChat welcomes sponsors.
I never said I was one of them My old car heavily modded and new car with carbon fiber exhaust plates and Tubi exhaust. Straight pipes are next.
I had a small single turbo on stock fuel and maf. I was running out of injectors at 500hp to the wheels on the dyno at 16-17psi. All the engine mods were done myself. Here's a tidbit from the sale ad over a year ago. ENGINE Greddy BL exhaust Scott Performance Downpipe ADFX Intercooler with complete hardpipes MOHD Intercooler Plate MOHD EGR Block Off Plate Greddy BCC HKS Cam Gear PWR Radiator with Upper and Lower hardpipes Custom Turbo Kit - Turbonetics Cast Iron Manifold - Precision Turbo .58 A/R Turbo - Innovative 42mm External Wastegate - HKS SSBOV - Turbonetics Manual Boost Controller
I already have carbon fiber engine cover plates. Otherwise straight pipes and carbon fiber door sills and I think that's it...K&N filters too if that counts.
Art, Good luck starting up. Make sure to invite us for your opening and we can cover your lot with high end autos. RocketBoy
A silver tinted window 550 (575m? I didnt see the head lites) pass me going the opposite direction I could see that it had tubi mufflers and it was in slow traffic so it was moving just above idle it was LOUDDDDDD a silver 575M(no tint) past me again going the opposite direction, at the divider break in the tunnel t(he kennedy after greak town). Maybe it was the noise of the kennedy or the partial divider why I couldnt her his car. my point is the song of the first car at idle had me hoping to hear something from the second car. the performance of the 500 series is well documented, But nothing reinforced that more than those tubi's did @ idle even. I have increased performance on domestic, asian, and german cars. I have never heard anything sound better than that 5xx yet (this side of a CART car). Art
who has done performance work on their ferrari or lamborghini. ive seen a sight that offers port and polish on 3 series, from 78 up to the 355. has any one done any of the following? flywheel ignition brake cluthch port work pistons gruppe m not including weight reduction I would like to keep this thread active Thanks Art
Art, My old 355 F1 (I now have a 360 Challenge) was a fun car to turn into a decent track car. Some of the mods were: Brakes, Tires / Wheels / Rotors, Springs, Exhaust, fire system Lots of fun can be had tweaking these mods! I worked with a shop in Franksville, WI (Motor Tech) In-floor Dyno, several Ferrari's, etc...
Well, the 308 that I currently own,I want to leave completely stock. But,the thought has crossed my mind to get another one to "HotRod". I was even thinking of getting one, pulling the engine, and,(Look away, all you "purists") and dropping in a High Performance Chevy Motor,(Ala V8 Archie, out in Barrington, who has been doing V8 conversions, very sucessfully,in Pontiac Fiero's. ) I also, once talked to a guy in Texas who was selling aHot Rodded 308,(It had already been Sold) Who said "Ferrari makes the Best engines in the World". I believe that. So,perhaps doing it to a 4 Valve Ferrari engine would be better. Maybe, even a Turbo, too? Twin Turbos?
