    Hi,

I am now scanning the ads for a RHD 348TB (or GTB) to suit my criteria. What I'm wondering is, are there any points on the car I should pay particular attention to when viewing? Rust? Common interior wear areas? Things like that.

    Any advice gratefully received.

    Regards, Jon

first ...the history of the car and maintenance....such as BELT !!!
    rust...i don't think so...

crack between roof and rear wing
wear of the tires (difference between left and right side can show your a proble of geometry or a crash...)
    wear of the driver seat...
like for all cars, the color of oil and its level (engine hot and running)
and have a look to the air filter, lot of dust will show you a poor maintenance...
    door joint elasticity.

In addition to points already mentioned,

look at the underside of the clutch bell housing at the rear of the car

There is an inspection plate. Check no fluid is present as it means a likely leaking clutch slave cylinder.

Makes sure the a/c works. - it often does not

Check the clutch for slipping (i.e. floor the accelerator in 5th gear). If it slips your into £1500 for a dual plate clutch.

Switch gear is generally flimsy so do not be put off.

Door handles will be scuffed through wear.

    Foot plates may be scuffed

Windows may be slow to raise

Front stone chips is common - so you may notice re-sprays. This is OK if it just that and not a result of a front end smash

Despite all this they are fantastic cars to look at and drive. IMO

    Good Luck

    John

It would perhaps be worth my while having an expert accompany me would it not? Whilst familliar with car mechanicals having worked on my own car for the last 5 years, I'm not familiar with 348 specifics. Are there people that provide this service?

Thanks for the point so far - very useful.

    Regards, Jon
