Does anyone identify this racing GTE (Bang model 1/43)?Perhaps Tour de France 1961... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It has the symbol of the wine maker's association of the Friuli area of Italy on the rear quarter panel. I think it might just be a model of a 250GTE on a recent retro-rallye
Agree. Advertising was very limited in those days and totally banned by many organizers. Otherwise I'm only aware of two 250 GT 2+2 that were entered into minor races. Herman Cordes raced 3153GT briefly in late in 1962, after he had wrecked his 250GT SWB. Finnish Olli Lyytikäinen raced his 250 GT 2+2 (2431GT) by entering in to Puijo H/C on 03/09/61 and winning the category >2000 cc. Any others? Best wishes, Kare
I don't know anything about 250GTE racing history. With something like 950 cars built, who can say if any particular car ran in some obscure rallye during the period.
May be 1895 GT - 2nd of the 250 GTE prototypes - which debuted in 1960 24 hr LeMans as the Course Car.
At this year's Nurburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix there was a 250 GTE Competizione, built by the factory for a German client, who ordered to practice in it. He ordered it together with a GTO. I can't recall the exact details, but here is a shot of the car in action. Image Unavailable, Please Login
