So I was driving back from the Hamptons today and a guy in a silver 996 Porsche Turbo came next to me (with his girlfriend in the passenger seat) and took pictures of me (or my 348 :) ) with his camera phone!

I found this especially amusing because usually it's the guys in the Mack trucks who are taking pictures of my F-car while driving...

Almost every time I take the car on the highway someone takes a picture of my car!

Anyone want to tell his own story of people taking pictures of his F-car?

No F-car for me yet, but why do you think I keep a digital camera in my car at all times? ;)

If the girl in Porsche was hot, you should have had her take her top off. That's the going rate for the privilege of photographing Ferraris & their owners.

Next time take a picture of the person taking the picture of your car. You'll make them feel like a complete ass.

Once while in the 308 w/ my dad, we were down in an underground parking structure, when this guy in another car's (passenger seat) jaw dropped. As he was turning the corner, w/ us behind him, he quickly reached for a camera. We gave him a thumbs up, he took a picture, and then returned the thumbs up. That made our day.

Also, when we were on a freeway, a guy tooted the horn, and said "Nice Car!" Eventhough he didn't take a picture, it was still cool. There are alot of other experiences, especially w/ the ferrari group, of people's jaw's dropping, giving thumbs up, and people talking to us! Just too many to list.

4 some reason I am not into that. I personally hate it. It has happened to me twice this summer at stop lights and Im stuck and cant move. It just bugs me, I feel my personal space is gone. I would prefer they buy a picture at a store.

My instinct is same as Rick, Big Red. When I noticed some stanger is pointing a camera, I almost always look another side.

When I had 328 in Rosso Corsa & 355 spider in Fiorano Rosso, I had 2 occasions a pretty lady approached & asked a permission to take pics w/ cars. Both said they are aspiring actress or model. Both time, I was in uptown Dallas, and there were 2-3 other people w/ ref board & camera equipment. So I let them take pics. BUT I don't know how it turned out.

People don't pay much attention to my metalic black 512. It's rather difficult to see especially at night. But two weeks ago I think my 512TR was the cause of the accident.

As I came out onto the main street from shopping mall, the taxi driver suddenly slowed down to check out the 512, the car behind him ran into the bumper. It was not a serious accident, just minor bends. It was funny, but I felt for the guy who ran into the taxi though.

Happens quite frequently, but I don't mind it if they stay in their lane and not swirving all over. The funniest one was when I was coming back from an event and slowing down to get on a freeway interchange. A tour bus came along and all these flashes start going off from it.

I came out of my house recently and was surprised to see a kid in my driveway taking pictures of my 355. Rather than be a prick I said, "let me get a shot of you standing in front of the car". He sheepishly declined and ran off, embarrassed.

I've had literally dozens of people (probably over 100 now) take pictures of the Stradale while I'm driving. A few have pulled up, rolled down their window, and asked permission. I don't mind people taking pictures of the car, but I do tend to turn away... don't really like pictures of me... and the picture taker is not really interested in photographing me either.

Similarly, I rarely get gas and not have someone come talk to me about the car. I've probably had two come up more often than zero... so, the average is definitely greater than 1 per stop.

Often I'll park the car for a quick stop... by the time I get back to the car, there's typically a picture taker or two.

At 4 months old, and 10K miles driven, it wouldn't surprise me if there are 10K pictures in total that have been taken of it. Kind of a funny thought.

Maybe he heard, "let me shoot you for standing in front of the car." :) :)

But really, the offer was cool. I look forward to talking to people about and showing kids my Fcar.

As I am very new to Ferrari ownership, it freaks me out a bit at people gawking at my car (or me!). It's kinda cool I guess, but sometimes can be a little un-nerving as well!

I live in a historic neighborhood with a few tourist buses that pass by. I was out detailing the car on a Sunday afternoon and a bus stopped with people getting off to take pictures of the car. I wasn't sure if I should pose or just run for cover. I chose the latter and high-tailed it to the other side of the house until the coast was clear.

I gather this happens to all of you as well. Glad I am not alone. Maybe one day soon I will be more comfortable with the paparazzi...

I haven't had my spider long enough for this to happen but it has happened to me 4-5 times in the two months I have owned my Viper. All the Hooters waitresses took several pics with the Viper. I should have charged 5 bucks each. That's what they charge customers for pics with them.

    hey all,

I have had many people take photos of my car...standing still and moving.
I guess in this day and age there isn't much one can do about it.

There have probably been more photos taken than I have noticed since I tend to concentrate on driving (avoiding accidents/incidents) and not looking at the other driver or their passengers.

That's why I smile when I'm driving...you never know when someone is photographing you!

Over the years, I've had tons of folks comment on my Jaguar XKE's when I have one of them out. Like the Ferraris, they are incredibly recognizable and distinctive, and draw a lot of attention wherever I take them. They are not show cars by any stretch, but they still turn heads. I've only had the Mondial (rosso corsa) for a couple of months, and admittedly it is far from the most attractive of the Ferrari clan, but it still amazes me how many people seem to notice it and give the thumbs up.

The best picture story I've had was a few years ago with my pale primrose (light yellow) '72 Jaguar V-12 Coupe. My then gf and I pulled into the parking lot of a local restaurant. As we walked up to put our names on the waiting list, a half-drunk pair of young, pretty girls came up to us, with their football-player-looking boyfriends in tow, and were carrying on about how beautiful the car was. One of the girls said "would you mind if I got my picture taken laying on the hood of your car?" I said kiddingly, "sure, but only if you're naked. I don't want any scratches on it." The girl started to strip right there on the spot. Her boyfriend grabbed her, grunted at her, and pulled her away while giving me an "I'm going to kill you" look. It earned me a smack in the back of the head from my gf.

So far, no girls throwing themselves on the hood of the Ferrari for me. (Darn!)

I'm not a ferrari owner, but I can't understand this reaction. Most of the time the pictures they shoot his awful, of bad quality and does not add anything to their life. They had better buy a nice post card or a nice book, pictures will be so much nicer !
Maybe I react like this because...I'm photographer !

A positive reaction to my teenage drooling over a neighbors new 308GTB firmly cemented my Ferrari addiction. I was in his driveway ogling the car and he came outside and offered to take me around the block. I still remember every inch of that drive.

I've only had one picture taker at a gas station, and I told the kid to get in and I'd take a picture of him behind the wheel. I haven't had any boob flashers. :( Last week I took my kids to school in the car, and the 6th grader that opens the car doors was wide eyed and gap jawed. He mumbled out 'Nice car, what is it?'. The same day driving home from work, a guy in a clapped out Civic drove up next to me and yelled 'nice car!'.

I always try to get out of the way while adults take pictures of my ferraris and lamborghini.....

if kids are present, without exception, i always take extra time, make extra effort to invite them to get in and sit in the cockpits and let their parents take pictures...their priceless facial expressions and their gratitude gestures worth so much more than the vehicles themselves.....
