Hi, I have a 1995 355 Spider. Can someone tell me what the idle speed should be with the AC on and off? Also I have uploaded a jpeg that shows a hose nipple that nothing is attached to. There is one on the other bank too. Does anyone know what should attach here. Thanks,
I have a 355 spider as well. 1.) It should idle around 1100 RPM on idle... You may see a slight increase 1200 RPM with the air conditioning on at idle. 2.) These little attachments/connectors should not have anything on them. I believe they are for diagnostics, compression tests or something of the sort...
These small spigots are used when "balancing" the individual throttle plates for air-flow. There are in fact 8 of these spigots, 4 each bank. Adjacent to each spigot is a grub-screw which opens up the spigot to the vacuum in the individual throttle body. The balancing is done with vac gauges connected to all the spigots at once. Balancing is only needed if something goes wrong, it's not a routine maintanance item. Best advice is to leave well-alone !! Rob
Since we're on the subject of idling, mine seems to idle a little more rough compared to other 355's. It sounds like it has a miss. Should I try changing the plugs? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dan.
The two most common reasons for a slightly rough idle on 355's are spark plugs and spark plug wires. If you still have Champion plugs installed, toss them and get NGK's. Next I would try wires. If it's more than a slight problem that's an early symptom of a bad exhaust manifold.
Right on...my 355 was doing the same thing about a month ago...sounded like a miss, was idling rough and had trouble off of the line..it would lag for a bit and then start firing once the RPM's increased. FoA could not pinpoint the exact plug so we swapped out all 8, thing runs fine now. NGK's are the way to go......

Following up what Brian said, the #7 spark plug wire seems to be an issue. No idea why, but we have sold 5 #7's alone compared with 3 complete sets(all the part #'s) within the last 8 months. When our techs Ohm them out, #7's are always bad. I would tell you to replace them all in a set, but they are sold indvidually from Ferrari. R
