the barchetta owned by montezemolo. a gift from ferrari for his wedding. supposedly, the car was converted at some point to....... (a spider?).

this car was intorduced aas only a one off,not a production car.

It was actually Gianni Agnelli who commissioned Ferrari to build the car for Luca Montezemolo. A very special gift indeed!

IIRC, the car has been converted to a more normal spider now.

Why would you transform something so special, being personally comissioned by the late G.A. into something more "regular?" Yes, you can use the car more often with a true top (or any at all for this matter) but that is why he has his other Ferraris. So again, why?

You're trying to apply logic to Italian thinking. That's a very dangerous thing to do...

I can see why somebody would like a Spider more. Atleast from a logical and non emotional point of view. But when I look at the 360 barchetta I see a car built with passion for one mans pleasure and enjoyment, not practicality. Plus, there are plenty old school Ferraris with no roofs and I don't think the owners care too much if they're driving the car and enjoying it... unless of course it starts to rain. :D
