Between the high rev necessary, (imo), to enjoy the 355 performance and the driving conditions most common in my area, I am feeling shorter diff gearing would be a great improvement. I have done this on several cars with great results, again, for my driving environment. Has anyone changed out the gears for a shorter ratio set. This is often referred to as the poor mans supercharger. From what I gather in my owners manual, it looks like the final drive gearing is 2.80, is that correct?
In past cars I have lowered gearing an average of 10 to 12%, resulting in a more responsive and available power band. With a 6sp, the difference is all positive and even cruising on the interstate, which I seldom do, is changed by only about a 300rpms rise at 70mph.
    Any info appreciated, thanks, John

Eric, where are you from in Hawaii? I have spent time there every winter for 20 years, mostly on the big island. John

    John,

You are correct in saying that the final gear ratio is 2.8 : 1 (15/42). I have checked through our manuals and can't find any other variation of diff ratios, but I have a sneaky suspision that there was a different ratio fitted on the Swiss cars - maybe someone else has more info.

Threads did not really help although interesting. I guess Rob S. would be a good source of info though, so helpful in that way. I will post any info I get, John
