Dave, I posted that last week LOL. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30075 Here's a gif of him justifying his newest design... BTW, BMW has bought back 7000-8000 new 7 series, and local dealer has 2 buyback 645's. I saw another getting re-programmed for battery drain when I had Z8 over there. And a 2nd major engine rebuild recall for E46 M3's? Bwahahahah... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, and BTW, BMW throws out ALL the CSI info on the new 7 series, doesn't use it against dealer at all....soiunds like fundamentally flawed product to me. Jim, you know anyone @ Eagle Aston? PM me if you do, please?
Why? I'm guessing it has something to do with the engine management software. That's been my major gripe with another BMW product -- the Mini Cooper S.
DTPA Deceptive trade practices act, unable to repair/too much time in shop/lemon law. Warranty bumped to 6Y/100k for all 7's. Yep, I want to keep a crappy car longer...not. Heard about 2 745's that threw rods...Mahle's, tech who did them said they were loose, unplug coil and they ran fine, took load off rod. Buyback 645's already... horrifying. Coupe and cabrio. E63 baord on roadfly has more than a few stories abt this, People specc'ing their second cars... Waiter, this food was lousy and cold, can I have another order? I have had 2 Coop S's...early 02 was fine, 8k miles, swapped for fresh 03 w/o sunroof, JC Works installed @ delivery. Lots of mods, software has been fine. V36 was OK, V38 put inb last week is MUCH better. Mileage went up from 16-17(town, I drive HARD) to 18-20, same drives. And no BS-drive/Bangle. Hope Frank Stephenson(did Mini, now design chief @ F Spa) can do updated 275GTB/4 for next Maranello like he did the new Mini.
Ha! Apparently you haven't encountered the rough idling problem at stop lights yet with V38! Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones. It's amazing how much my respect for BMW and Siemens has fallen since I bought my MCS! Sorry for the OT digression...
I interviewed Bangle, you know the electronic problems and other issues have nothing to do with him, Right? he is a designer not an engineer but they are not alone on the dubious quality scale of electromagnetic issues. MB has had their share this last couple of years too as has almost all of the top level vehicles. Has the design begun to grow on anyone? I saw a 7 whipping past me the other day and it didn't make me puke...
The 3 series looks good and I'm will to bet the 4 series will also. I LOVE the new M5 But other wise CHRIS BANGLE will be the demise of BMW. http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/roadtests/firstdrive/103035/article.html?tid=edmunds.h..wkedmunds.firstdrive.1g
Lee, I must have missed that last week.. Eagle Aston? Call Kurt Fergraeus. Good guy. So is John Eagle, the owner: REAL car guy.
I like the 7, 5 and 6 series. I think BMW should make the front of the 7 series a tad larger (length wise). The B Pillar is entirely too far forward. The front door should be longer. The steering wheel should tild a little higher. Then I can buy one. As soon as I can get my long ass legs under the steering wheel. I drove a 645 SMG last week, awesome car.
As an owner of the last gen 7 series and classic 6 series, BMWs direction saddens me. I want an SL more then a new 6.
Now that's a sad comment. When real car guys loose interest in BMW it just leaves the poseurs and the housewives. (No offense meant to domestic partners).
I owned a 2000 740i, and I think the new ones, while different, are just as nice, if not nicer. Body lines are much more subjective than interiors. As far as interiors go, the new ones are much nicer. The SL and the 6 arent even in the same catagory. SLs are drastically more expensive.
I disagree. I went looking at new ones when they came out, and do again everytime I am there for parts or something. The new interiors do not hold a candle to the old 750's.. Too much plastic. Not enough stitched leather. No BMW center console shift toward the driver (in a BMW?!) To me they are. I am not going to buy both. And I would rather the SL. I would not have said the same for the old 6 over an 80s SL. Or a 8 over 90s SL.
Just got this info today...........all figures in CAD $. 2005 Z4.........$ 3,000 cash rebate 2004 Z4.........$ 5,000 cash rebate 2004 X5.........$ 6,000 cash rebate 2004 3 series..3% lease/finance While the X5 didn't get Bangle's ugly stick.......the Z4 sure did........rebates on new model year cars.......heh.......who woulda thought.
The M3 SMGII is still the best current-model BMW in my opinion. Looks nice inside and out, lots of technology and great performance. I'm guessing the new M5 will match or better this car, but I'll have to wait and see.
Actually the entire market for 2 seat cars (in that $ range) is in the pooper right now (S2000 Crossfire Z4 etc) the numbers are for industry wide. There was so little compitition for the Z3 now there is the 350z the Crossfire the SLK etc... ) According to the Automotive News things with 2 seats running 30-50k the market is SLOW. Cides I kinda like the little 4, for a car with only 195 ponies it is a blast
the Z4 is a fun as hell car. I recommend it over an S2000, SLK, 350Z, Crossfire, etc. This car is actually fun to drive, pretty comfy and looks nice too. You guys just dont know good design when you see it ;oP
You guys are all probably the ones the whine in the letters section of every Roundel magazine. If you don't like it don't buy it...or look at it. BMW's will sell fine without you.
