Got word from someone....here is the deal:

Mediterranean style restaurant will be opening on the corner of Park Ave and 20th street (where the restaurant Patria used to be). Major partners involved are the owners of Sushisamba and City Crab. They themselved invested around $1.5M already and are looking for more capital of $750,000.

If anyone is interested....let me know and maybe we can get a group together.

Demolition of the old restaurant will occur on the 15th of this month....so the restaurant would be open sometime in the very near future.

i considered it for a bit, but instead i decided to pull $750K out of my bank account in hundreds and dumped it in my driveway, doused it with gasoline, and lit it up.

i got cited by the police for not having a burning permit. DAMMIT!

    :)

they are selling ownership stakes in increments of 1%, so noone needs to front the entire $750,000.

for the avoidance of doubt, the point was that a total loss is a total loss. restaurants are notoriously bad investments. even "successful" restaurants can be tough to get your money out of - and the odds of ever getting to breakeven are unpretty.

Thanks for the information Hubert but I think that if a group gets together for the remaining portion of the investment that it will take quite some time for them to obtain a return. What is the remaining portion for the investment? 25% share?

You have one already at BMC.

Are they looking for restauranteur investors or silent partners?

Personally, I'd never invest in a small business idea that I did not understand but I know a handful of restaurant owners in NYC that own high-end places looking to do some "low-effort but still hands on" projects...
