What are some creative ways you have your models displayed?
I was thinking of doing a long self and painting it dark gray and painting yellow stripes between each model like a long parking lot.

and placing it under my ferrari logo poster in the garage.

    Any ideas or pics ???

At first I wanted it to be cute and all, but the longer I collect these cars the more it becomes obvious what is really the problem: Space

The cute part I now take care of by placing little Ferrari memorabilias in between: Empty Ferrari perfum bottles, some Ferrari knock off watches, used F1 tickets, autographs from Ferrari drivers stuff like that.

At some point my collection needs a redressing. At that time I'll build a shelf which will make maximum use of the given space, read very narrow shelves, and lots of halogen illumination for the cars.

you guys are right: Space is the name of the game and problem here.
I was forced by my wife to build and arrange a new "room" just for my toys
and that new room I call it "the zoo" since it's full of horses, bulls, snakes and even some big cats LOL.D (horses both american & european breeds)
in fact I don't have room enough to do justice to my 1/24,1/43 and smaller scalescollections
here's 3 different breeds of Snakes in my Zoo

If I had to start all over again, I would be collecting in 1/43 just to save some space if nothing else.

There's some really nice collections posted here... Very impressive...

Andreas, i was at Home Depot yesterday and saw shelves that have lights built into the bottom; so, the light from the bottom of one shelf can shine on the shelf below... That might save you some space...

Aside from putting some models on top of magazines, i never really did anything "creative" with my collection... Although, when i was living in NY, my apartment was based around my collection, whereas most people base their collections around their apartment... :)

Hmm, very interesting. Have to take a look at that. Such shelves normally cost a fortune, but Home Depot is up my alley.

Just how do I get them home in the 308?
    :)

If they come in a box, unassembled, you can probably get a few; if not, then it's one at a time... :)

All of these are very nice ideas. I like the color coordination idea. I plan on possibly doing mine like the display @ the Ferrari Store accross from the Factory in Maranello. A well lit white glass back wall with the cars on clear glass for each individual car. It looks like the cars are suspended in the air, but very nicely displayed.

One of my favorite (personal) ways of displaying models is to use bases that look like race tracks

Ive got a bunch in my personal collection..but Ive left them out of our diecast showroom...(They are a bit of a pain to make ..but maybe one day we'll sell them)

I'll post pictures one of these days
