I think that to many owners, Ferrari is about dreams - and passion.

And the reality is that Ferrari does not FEED these dreams, they FEED UPON these dreams. Ferrari is a business. A company. They exist in order to make money. People have to make their own dreams. At the end of the day, Ferrari just wants your money.

I agree with the parts issue.

The idiot factor is also something I can't stand

Recently "that thing got a Hemi" is also starting to get to me

i hear about all these problems Ferrari owners have with their cars, with their dealers, with FNA and some even with the factory and it's very perturbing, to say the least... i would defecate a cinder block if i had to go through some of the things you folks go through... Like Brian's "Titanic Stradale", for example... That would enrage me like nothing else...

Then i start to think about what it would be like to be a Ferrari owner... If life were perfect, there would be a black on black NNO in my driveway... and i start to think about what problems i might have with it; what difficulties might arise when i'm driving it...

...ooh, when i'm driving it... Down a dark, twisty road, late at night... The engine growling, the acceleration constantly rushing me to multiple cargasms everytime i hit the go pedal... The feel, the look, the sound, omigod, there's a pit in my stomach just THINKING about it... i swear on my life, i'm grinning right now, i can't help it...

Um, ahem, sorry... What were we saying...? Something about issues...?

    :)

i guess that's the trade off... i truly believe there's a balance with EVERYthing in life and this is where it comes in with Ferrari... The customer service at BMW is so good - almost unctuous - but NO BMW looks, feels, sounds and drives like a Ferrari... To us, Ferraris are so perfect; their only imperfection is the people/company(ies)/processes needed to acquire/maintain them...

...now back to that silly grin.

Biggest dissapointment was discovering most dealers have inability to actualy understand how car should run letalone actualy service it to proper standard. If jets were maintained like most ferraris there would be planes falling out of the sky regularily, FNA probably has low standards.

No2 is the attitude of some owners who think theyre so cool just by having a "red" car but actualy dont know sh*t about how to drive it.

On a positive note there are some great specialists out there who can really sort these cars out, some are even at dealers.
And for every few ferrari poseur owners there appears to be some real driving enthusiasts.

I second that four times. I also dislike the way ferrari over price spares. And shroud the car and engine with a mysteque even though its not built as good as other cars that costs alot less. I also dislike the use of the ferrari tax cambelt use, other cars use chains and i dont accept the argument that it is more quieter than a chain, have you heard the noise going on behind ya head anyway? I think that comes argument comes straight from the factory becourse they know owners hang on there every word justifying all this by saying its the charm of owning a ferrari...WHAT!.

YEAH, I want to answer this. The assumption that an every-day man can’t own one & live the dream is s***. For 30K a 308 is in the range & can be had. You just have to want it in the right way.

The fact that I don't get to see one often enough. And that's a helluva lot further from actually owning/driving one! :(

their current styling comes to mind. Im sorry, but Ferrari has lost that special touch in their designs that made the cars drop dead gorgeous from all angles. Now itsl ike they take the shock value route of BMW, trying to be different, but still failing. A lot of other companies are making gorgeous designs, or at least ones pleasing to the eye. Perhaps Pininfarina has finally come to the end of its design reign and should pass the baton to a new company with more interesting ideas?
Also I dont like the nose-in-the-air attitude that a lot of Ferrari reps have, simply because of the heritage of their company. Heritage can only get you so far, and Ford has dug something out of its own heritage that thoroughly trounced the Modena CS. I know a lot of people love Ferrari, but Ive grown steadily out of love for the marque the more it ages. Its just lost some sort of vitality and excitement, and now seems like any other car company with a fast car.

What I don't like about Ferrari:

    1) Attitude of the dealer in my area
    2) Latest designs are much weaker than expected (612, 430 and 575 replacement)
    3) They didn't build enough Enzo's! I would have been happy if they just built 1 more and sold it to me!
    4) Marketing paraphernalia is out of control (gobs of t-shirts, shoes, hats, pens, mugs, keychains, etc, etc, etc)
    5) They need to put more emphasis on horsepower & torque (sure, track handling is great to brag about, but the last I checked Ferrari was selling road cars to the public, not F1 cars)
    6) They need to start taking the competition more seriously to really build the best road cars possible -- the new 430 will not even be a match for the current contenders (Ford GT, Gallardo, 911 GT2)

In summary, I am not nearly the Ferrari fan that I was a few years ago. Partially due to these factors listed, and partially due to the competition stepping things up bigtime. Oh, and partially due to the fact that I test drove and bought a Murcielago. ;) Since then, anything Ferrari makes (short of the Enzo) feels pretty tame.

    1.The owners.
    2. I think Ferrari has gotten lazy. And others have one upped them. Before I used to think they were the best of the best. Now I think they're just as good as the rest. [rest being other supercar makers...]

It's not Pininfarina's fault, they were very upset they didn't get to design the 360 from scratch, they were given the car after wind tunnel design which now dictates what cars look like.
