Steering wheel contacts need electrical advice

Dear Freinds,

When I got to Monterey I noticed a loud scratching noise in my steering wheel. It went away on the trip home, I dorve big sur both ways . I thought it was the contacts for the horn. I removed the wheel and the hub and cannot see anything a miss i do not want to break this priceless headlight stalk/ wiper/ turn signal unit but would like to put some king of grease on the horn spring contact and rotating plastic bezel. I was going to clean off the copper ring and spring and use dielectric grease but was going to ask some of the electric guys what you thought first.
