It's only common courtesy that the people chatting with you know who you are and where you are from. For crying out loud, if someone wants to stalk/kill you they will do it. Deleting certain info on f-chat will not slow them down one iota. Lighten up.
Carbon was suprisingly sober for the entire Monterey experience...... He did seem to sleep in quite a bit though. My philosophy is to keep the same online identity..... I'm a nobody in regards to the Ferrari community so my real name is not that important though it has been a pleasure to meet a few people who live in the same area. As for psychos....I have guards armed with M-16s protecting me so I'm not particularly worried but I can certainly understand FC'ers not wanting to reveal personal info for safety reasons.
i'm laughing my ass off at "bling bracelet"... Jordan, you're a trip... i hope you're enjoying college...
it took me approximately 3 seconds to find your home address and phone number online. I'd like to think it would take a little longer to find mine. I'm married to a retired DOJ agent who dealt with pedophiles. They get out of jail and then sometimes they come looking for her. (It's happened twice.) I don't need to make it any easier than it has to be for them, or others, who take or took offense at what she did, or what I say, online or otherwise, to find her or me. (Geez, that was truly a compound sentence.)
Dave, I understand what you are saying. I guess even if you SAY that your name is "Dave Jones" or something, at least people can get the feeling that they are talking with a person vs. a screen name.
Gotcha. Agree 100%. I wish I could just post everything here and think, "Well, this way they can call me if they need me" but, that's just not reality anymore. Too bad. Oh, and my real name is Dave, not dm_n_stuff.
i can't say i see the need. rob chooses people to moderate. we can reasonably assume that his decisions in these matters are not capricious - these guys after all can wreak havoc on the board if they're "bad" and significantly impact his (a) operational costs (bandwidth, etc.) and (b) advertising revenues. in that case, my real name really is Hugh Jass. there was an interesting thread this past week in the UK section about some of the risks of providing too much data in one's profile. doody.
