Andrew, What do you want to do with the car? stock cruising, occasional track, or full blown track?? Try checking some of the prior posts, both in this forum and in the archives. Look carefully at what some of the other owners have run into and be prepared with most of the parts or have a line on them, just in case you run into a problem. You may need to have your flywheel resurfaced or want to get it lightened, so a good local machine shop might be good to have already checked out. Check with some of our sponsors for recomendations and prices. I have yet to do this job, but it might be nice to have any special tools borrowed, bought or rented before you start disassembly. hth, chris
Borg and Beck was the stock clutch. They seem to hold up very well, for the horsepower they handle. You could also look into have the clutch disc relined in kevlar etc.\,or just have it rebuilt to stock specs. You could also go to a mutli-plate clutch set up if you really want to spend the bucks. Light weight flywheels are available from T-Rutlands. You will need the special ring-nut tool (f-104) from Baum tools. She is an expensive socket but you will need it.(hammer and a chisel is not recommened). These rings nuts are also a one time use only nut. You should buy a new one when you do the clutch. Other tools you will need are a 13mm socket,a 17mm socket, a 22mm socket(for the wheel),snap ring pliers, medium sized pry bar and a clutch aligment tool (MGB works just fine). Needel nose pliers, side cutters, 2 10mm wrenches and one 11mm wrench. You will also need 3 rubber o-rings to seal the bell housing. You may also want to replace the rearmain seal while your in there. They are quite common to sweat oil,and make an icky mess inside the bellhousing. And 2 cotter pins.
