I ordered a shirt 3 months ago that they told me afterwords was on backorder. So ok, I wait for them to bill me on credit card so that I know they have shipped out the shirt. That, however, was 6 weeks ago and still no shirt. On top of that, they havent responded to any of my 4 emails that I've sent since the billing.

Should I call direct and talk to a manager in shipping/receiving department?

There was a thread in the collectibles section a while back where a few of us just totally bashed Exoticar... i still don't regret it... Exoticar has customer service comparable to hookers and drug dealers; you give them your money and IF you're lucky enough to get anything at all, it's probably not what you paid for...

Not only do i suggest calling the manager in shipping but i suggest you make a big deal out of it, too... Before you pick up the phone, though, get all of your Ps & Qs in order; print out all of your emails that you sent (if you still have them); write the dates on them, so you're not stuttering when you spout off all of this information... Get out the credit card you used to pay for this stuff with (if you used a credit card); set in front of you all of the information you'll be using to present your argument, so when you're asked about, all of the facts are right in front of you...

    Good luck...

I kinda had a problem. Ordered 3 items, 2 made it after a couple weeks, the remaining item was BO. Was never notified of anything. After a couple month, I sent them an email about my last item never delivered (but billed). They quickly emailed me back and gave me my money back.
So there was a problem, and they fixed it. But you still have to keep in touch with your order. They still are fine in my book. When I told them I had been waiting for 3 months, they did not argue or question anything.

I am also pissed off at them. They have been holding my stuff for like 3 weeks now. I had ordered 6 cars from them and just got one. If they pla to send it piecemeal then I am going to have my credit card company cancel that payment.

Notorious for having products in catalogue that are actually on back order or even out of production. Also have terrible customer service. Not sure how they stay in business - although I guess their boutique stores in fancy areas of big cities pull in some big money.

So many great companies out there now, that there is no need to deal with these guys.

I recently ordered a Mattel hot wheels F355 Spider online about a month ago. Had no problems. Got the car less than a week later.

    Maybe they changing?????

    Theo

P.S. At some point in the near future I am physically going to one of their stores (in MA) to buy a few more models. I'll let you know if I get any headaches or problems

I wouldn't order from them for anything. I have had orders that have not come through also. They should tell you it is sold out if they don't have it. They shouldn't let you order items without at least letting you know it is backordered

    The monthly "bash Exoticar" thread.

I must just be the lucky one. I have said it before and I will say it again. I have ordered thousands of dollars of stuff from them. I checked my filing cabinet - over 70 seperate orders. Never (not once) a problem, customer service always fine.

    A couple of things:
    Order by phone only.
Ask the first name of the person you talk to.
Ask if each item is in stock, if not, do not order it at that time.
Ask the total and how much is shipping.
Repeat the order with item numbers.
Thank the person who helped you and use thier name.

Maybe I am due for a problem, but I have been in the store three times and ordered from Alaska and Colorado for years without problems, so my record is pretty good.

    Ron,
I have ordered a lot from your company, too. In my opinion, Scale Cars is another great dealer. Maybe I can get my order count up to 70 with you, too.

Ive been thinking about this...and think you should forget emailing them and just call

We here at ScaleCars.com have about 7 different email address. The one we list on the website to contact us is "[email protected]". Well....as things go, emails sent to us sometimes don't get answered. It's not that we ignore people....it's that this email address..as well as a couple others of ours is overrun with junk. We get literally hundreds of junk crap spam emails

I use filters and blockers and even change the names of the email addresses. Nothing works. So it is possible that 4 of your emails can get ignored.

However if you call them and they ignore you...I won't defend them again

I posted this before but they still owe me a refund from last April. I call and they say they'll get it right out and never do. I did get one of the two refunds. This was for 2 items ordered for me as a birthday gift. Both items were swapped when sent out. This puts the "M" in Mickey Mouse, IMO.

I once ordered a 1/18 Blue Bugatti EB110. Let's just say I waited so long for it that I completely forgot about it and was shocked when I received it. That however was the only trouble I have had w/ them.

I recently placed a small order (3 items) and 2 were sent. One of those was the wrong thing (although it was actually OK) and the 3rd was not sent. The invoice said "shipped separately" - I'm still waiting....

I'm not too impressed with their customer service overall, and would certainly look to other sources for Ferrari items...

    Sad...

I waited a month for a flag and when it arrived it was the wrong one. Not worth the hassle to return so I kept it.

    Jonesn,

Any good business man knows that the key to a successful business is to have excellent customer service. Being in the diecast business myself, there are some things that are out of your control. This is usually a supply issue, but should never affect how you treat your customers. Honesty is always the best policy. Hopefully you will be able to resolve this problem soon.

Looked at the archived thread posted by DL. Looks like they are doing the same shi$ again and again.

Take my case: I ordered 7 cars from them in mid august. Order was confirmed by them by email. Then 3 days later I get a mail saying that they are providing partial delivery since 1 car is backordered. I called them up and asked them to remove the backlogged item from the order and ship the rest. The salesperson said that they would send it the same week. 10 days later 1 car arrives. I took a look at my credit card bill and see a charge from exoticar for the entire 6 cars .... I call them up yesterday and speak to customer service ... where are the other 5 cars? ... the salesperson says they need to call up the california warehouse to confirm if they shipped it ... the computer tracking of an order is absent obviously ... the salesperson says that they will call me back in 1 hour with information ... no call ... I call up again in a few hours ... salesperson says that she will re-check availability and call me back ... no call ... I called up today and threatened to cancel order ... got a promise that all cars will be shipped by next week. If it doesnt arrive I am going to dispute the credit card charge.

Saga still continuing. I will never ever buy from them again even if they are the only ones in the world that stock a particular item .

    Has pitcrew posted since?

Call your credit card company immediately. I just went through a 5 months of frustration with Exoticar after my girlfriend ordered a GP print from them for my birthday last April. The owner of Exoticar's name is Peter Tedeschi. You could try calling him about your problem. Their customer service is a joke. They love to pass the buck. Every single time I called I was told to call back and ask for someone else who might be able to help me. I dealt with Mark, the head of customer service 4 times. How this guy got to be in charge is beyond me. He never returns calls, and could care less about serving his customers. He simply tells lies to cover his own ass, and get you off the phone as quickly as possible. He told me he would refund the money to my girlfriend's credit card immediately, but never actually followed through. Yvonne in customer service is also a little slow. I had explained my problem to her a few months ago and she said she would "Personally look into the matter and call me back with an awnser". She did get back to me, but only after I left a message on Peter's voicemail a few months later. Peter told her to call me and resolve the issue. To my surprise she did not even remember our original conversation, or telling me she would "call me back with an awnser". She apologized, and told me the money would be refunded to the credit card.... We shall see.......

Peter seems like a nice guy. He has a nice Ferrari F40. Too bad he has hired a bunch of idiots to run his business..... If you want to resolve your problem call your credit card company and have them reverse the charges. Dealing with the customer service dept. of Exoticar will get you nowhere.

This is just in case Pitcrew tries to post that I am not a "real customer" and claims I must be a disgruntled employee seeking revenge. The truth is that I am an actual customer of Exoticar, and was not satisfied with the experience. I dont even like to post complaints on forums like this, but the 5 months spent trying to resolve the issue deserve compensation......

I just spoke with Mark. He immediately brushed me off to Yvonne's voicemail. I called back, and told him that he promised to refund the credit card, but never followed through. He told me the refund was made, and gave me the transaction number. The date of the refund was about 3 weeks after he promised to do it. When asked about this time discrepancy, he claimed that he was having "computer problems". At least the situation is resolved. The only way I will consider buying something from Exoticar again will be at the warehouse, in person. I cringe at the thought of having to put up with their customer service department ever again!

i just got my models from exoticar today-here's the true complaint i have with them-i ordered 3 - 1/18 scale ferraris(dino246,512tr,and 308)-1 of them arrived in the wrong exterior color(ordered red 246-they send me this "plum" color, ordered kyosho 308in red-they decide to send me red 328 instead( i check my invoice and sure enough it states part# for red 308)-they decided that since 308 was backordered they would just send me 328 instead(to bad i already have red ANSON 328gts from like 4 years ago) and finally, i ordered 1/43 scale lotus espirit(autoart) in yellow-they decided to just go ahead and send me red one instead(it's a good thing they are mind readers and decided instead of contacting me about exterior colors not being available(like they assured me on the phone that there was"no problem"-"we have everything in stock at this time"-NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!-THIS COMPANY'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT. IS PATHETIC-NEVER ASSUME THAT THE MODELS YOU WANT TO ORDER WILL BE THE SAME ONES(SAME COLOR) THAT ARRIVE AT YOUR DOORSTEP AND BE VERY CAUTIOUS OF "ITEMS THAT ARE ON BACKORDER"(i have personally noticed that EXOTICAR loves to show models in their catalogs that never seem to be available-EVER!!(example:1/18 scale dodge tomahawk motorcycle-GOOD LUCK!!!!)
