Hi to all you Mondial Fchat owners

Just bought a 1990 3.4t convertible last week and I'm thinking about changing the wheels.

    I've seen these two previous threads;

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12078&page=3&pp=20

What are these wheels on AR! Mondial? - Post no.60

Also very interested in putting 360 alloys on as per Post no 21

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7987&page=2&pp=20

Is it just me or have those wheels totally transformed the car?

Would be really interested in hearing others owners thoughts and/or photos.

    Kevan

:)See you down the road - with big smiles on our faces:)

I like the modern wheels look on the Mondial. My personal preference is to stick with a Ferrari wheel rather than an aftermarket. I think the 360 wheels look pretty good but I have a suspicion that 355 or 456 wheels would look more appropriate. Anyone out there have 355 wheels on a Mondial?

    Hi Birdman

My garage in the UK (QV in Ascot) advised that 355 wheels would not fit.

Still no news from Fchatter AR! as to what the wheels are on his Mondial.

    Have seen on Mondials:
    16" 308 QV wheels
    17" 348 wheels
    18" 360 wheels
    17" Speedlines (see my profile)
    16" / 17" HREs

AR!'s wheels look possibly similar to a Ronal wheel.

QV is quite reputable, but I'd bet 355 wheels would fit with proper wheel bolts/spacers. I've certainly seen a lot of 355 rims on 348s, and the stock 348 fits a mondial just fine. I would think many of the aftermarket 348 wheels would fit well (see recent other 348 wheel thread for examples)

    good luck

    Hi SNJ5,
do factory 348 17" wheels fit a Mondial 3.2 without spacers? Any problem with tire clearance? I'm acquiring a 3.2 coupe with metric wheels that I'd like to replace.
    Thanks

We've had one in that had them, it had a 10mm spacer on the front and 15 on the back, they did seem to have more than enough clearance though, you may want to speak to Hill Engineering (site sponsor) about spacers.

Talk to me, I've got 348 wheels on my Mondial cw spacers from hill engineering (recommended and v good value). None power steering makes steering heavy though but I've just posted at thread to ask if anyone out there knows how to lighten it up.

Here are some pics of a Mondial with 355 wheels. Not my cup of tea, i'd prefer the 348 wheels. But I think it looks better than the 360 wheels on a Mondial. Unfortunately I cant find a pic with the 360 wheels, but I've seen one and didnt like it. My2C.

Found a pic of an older mondial with 360 rims. Im not so keen on it, but what do you guys think?

I also found pics of a 3.2 QV with 360 wheels. Gives a better impression.

I like the 355 wheels a lot, the 348 are OK and not fond of the 360 wheels.

I personally think that the best fit is the 348 wheels. The 355 gives an agressive looks that change so much the line of the car and the 360 is truly awful !
    Good luck.

I agree. The car with the 355 wheels looks very odd, and I just realised why. The front grill looks like its been sprayed black, which makes it look very strange. My pref is the 348 wheels.

I went with a set of 348 wheels for my 81 Mondial Coupe, I had to use longer wheel bolts and thicker spacers. It handles better and looks better.

When I got my Mondial, part of the deal was to have the seller replace the worn tires with a set of new z rated ones. Which he did.
I didn't even consider changing out the wheels.
However, after viewing what a number of Fchatters have done to their cars, I'm convinced the change really updates the vehicle.
Can't wait to wear out my tires and replace them and the wheels!

Funny, this is an OLD thread coming back to life and in the time that has passed since it was started, I have purchased a Mondial QV and put 348 wheels on it. Looks awesome! (Check my profile for pic).

Since you asked, I don't care for 360 wheels on the Mondial. They look like cartwheels. No "meat" to them. I am also in the minority here in that while the 348 wheels look better than 360 wheels, I am not a huge fan of them either. If anything, the 355 wheels are not too bad. However, the stock ones look perfect...to me.

Its funny how many of us think the 348 wheels look better on the Mondial than a 348.

Gotta agree that the 348 wheels look good on the mondial too.

That pic with the 355 wheels looks good but the car looks like it needs to be lowered a bit.

Someday, I'll get 360 modular wheels for my t Coupe. They looked awesome on that fellow's 348! The stock wheels are what makes the car look dated, but I like the "softer" ride with the OEM fitment.

Mondials are kinda angular, and so are the 348 wheels, so they go together well. I can't get anything to upload right now. I'll put a few more up soon. Fchat is SLOW.
