I posted this before but some of you may not have seen it.
    Bob Z.

After delivering the 412 MI, we visited a fellow (Paul) in Greenwich, Ct quite a few years ago. He had an alloy bodied California SWB with three of the biggest twin-throat Webbers I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure it was one of the few competition models - maybe some of you know the car.
Anyhow, I was adimiring the engine when he walked over, connected the battery, closed the hood and said "the keys are in it, take it out for a ride". I said "by myself?" - he replied "sure - I already know how it drives!"
That once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was as good as one could ever ask for. I drove it conservatively for around 45 minutes and I have never to this day had such a rewarding automotive experience. That car did NOTHING wrong. Slow, fast, didn't matter. IT WAS PERFECT!
The ride was truly a gift and I've never forgotten Paul for allowing me to spend time with such a magnificent automobile.
Does anyone know of this car and it's whereabouts today? I wish I could give more details but it was around 20 years ago and all I heard was that it was somewhere in Florida. Might just be a rumor.
    Bob Z

Bob, AFAIK Paul still owns 2015GT today (if he didn't sell it during 2004).

Bought in 1992 from Albert Obrist.

    Best wishes, Kare

Hi, Kare - something is amiss - it was WAY before 1992 that I drove it. Closer to 1982.

Kare, I think Paul Pappalardo has owned 2015GT since the 1970s, no? Could you be confusing this with Obrist's SWB Berlinetta 2501GT?

*Edit* I did some web searching and found one source that stated that the car went from one of the Gellis brothers to Obrist and then on to Pappalardo in 1992. Still, I believe that the car went from the Gellis brothers to Pappalardo in 1976 and has been with Paul ever since. Let me verify and get back to you.

Yes, there seems to have been some confusion between 2987GT (ex-Obrist) and 2015GT (Pappalardo) - the third alloy being 2383GT (Wang). Pappalardo's car is 2015GT and yes, he's had it since 1970's.

    Great color again, Bob!

    Best wishes, Kare

3469 GT is NOT a California and has nothing to do with a California Spider. And it doesn't have a hardtop either. See also "Cavallino" magazine #52 of 1989.

250 GT Speciale. 400 SA Cab styling on a 539 Chassis. Very nice indeed. As Marcel writes, Cavallino 52 has a feature on it. The coorespondance between the original owner, SEFAC, Enzo and Pininfarina makes a great read. The best bit was the "MSRP" of $12,999!

At one time Pappalardo owned GTO 5571. It was sold to the Gelles brothers who owned California Spyder 2015. Pappalardo took the car in trade and owned it up until just recently.
The Gelles brothers sold Obrist 5571 in 1985 along with a 250LM they had. Pappalardo sold Obrist 330P 0820 at the same time. I delivered all three cars to Lufthansa for shipment to Zurich. The airline actually lost all three cars for a period of time!

Great story! Definitely could have been a lousy day for Obrist (and the rest of us!) if the airline hadn't found those beauties.

There was in fact a 250LWB California Spyder sitting in the lobby of the Snite Museum here at Notre Dame back in September 2005. However, it is now back in the owner's collection in Michigan.
