Appreciate your thoughts Chevarri, however the whole idea behind the twin turbo kit is for it to be useful in a daily driven application. Likewise, if we were to 'push the envelope', up the boost several pounds and dump in some C16 fuel for example, power would go up accordingly. But as stated, this isn't the point. I hope you understand where I am coming from. cuspub
As word of this gets around, I find more interest in 360's also. As part of the racing team, we've tried to get MoTeC to control the fly by wire throttles but as of mid 2003 they couldn't do it in conjunction with the F1 gear shifting. If NIZPRO can set up a bolt on 360 Twin Turbo with F1 shifting kit......I think I can sell 6 kits tomorrow......
Given our history with MoTeC (one of their biggest dealers for many years and with cusomt fitment and tuning experience on a massive range of makes and models, we feel very confident of doing exactly what you are after; 360 with F1 shift. For example, recent achievements with fly by wire include the BA Falcon and 350Z. If Nizpro had a car for say a month to use as a mule, it would complete the task and be in a position of supplying kits (as per 355) at approximately the same cost. So as they say in the movies, bring it on!
Ok. I'll see if I can find a car that can be used as a test bench then...... Come out to calder on Sunday and say hi. There'll be three 360C there...all of which would probably do the upgrade now that Nations cup is ended and the State series allow these mods to be done..... It would be good fot you to see how well the F1 shifting works on track, and it's requiremnts when running on MoTeC. There'll also be around 10-20 other 360's that could be interested, along with all the other 355's etc etc etc
Unfortunately Tony is still away on holidays, hence turning up to the day with nothing to show is perhaps a waste of time. I'm sure that he will be able to make the next event, or alternatively we can arrange a demonstration night in Bayswater for any interested parties.
Hey cuspub, if you are going to do a demonstration night let me know. i would love to come and have a look.
This TT 355 seems to be the perfect car. When ill get mine , ill have to do that mod plus some challenge brakes . How much would such a kit cost ?
I don't want to be a downer here but isn't this price a bit steep? Before I start, I should mention that I really don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to turbos. I just remember looking into a MB Compressor System recently and it was $11k. I see these for other cars in the $3-$6k range. Is the price high because these are one offs? I'm not trying to be confrontational, I would just like to understand. I was very interested in this project until I saw these projections.
l looked at buying the koenig kit for my 355 it was worth 80000 aus dollars. they said 580hp and if you want more it keeps going up. so fo me to go to a motec specialist and ask him to develop a kit was a smater way to go.the dyno time and the trial of turbos, injecters, intercoolers ,plumbing ,fuel curves ,computers and fabrication all cost money .nizpro were recomended to me and there price was cheaper than the others.that was not the decieding factor but it helped. if you are in the usa ask you motec dealer how much it would cost to just put motec on a ferrari. you will be shocked.motec is regarded in racing as the best engine management system on the market and it costs.you are not dealing with a mass product that works okay with your car but a item that works very well with a ferrari.
ask simon peter some facts 355=1350kg=650hp f40=1100kg=480hp enzo=1350kg=660hp its an affordable alternative not an enzo or a f40 but its a lot closer than it was before.
MoTeC ECU and loom parts are around $2000 I think. Labour is the biggest cost so I would guess you could save up to $5000 if it's all installed already. System would need to be compatible though. Many updates over the years.
Wow. In the US, a haltech E11 with harness is $1800 USD, the Motec stuff starts are about $3500-$4000 I think.
can't see any prices. mine was a lot more than $2k...but that was years ago. these things always get cheaper....like all tech stuff
The motec site has links to all it's dealers, and they're showing a special on reduced prices of some of their ECU's. There's also dozens of old race cars laid up doing nothing that have perfectly good Motec ecu's on board.....just search around if you think you want one. We gave 'em away with the Mustangs when we sold them...... I think the M800 or 880 is the pricey one, but I don't know if that's the one you need for this application......
Regarding MoTeC. It is the M800 that is part of the kit. As to the questions surrounding the associated costs of fitting a MoTeC, I suspect that it is possible that some are missing the point. Obviously, if someone already has MoTeC fitted to their vehicle it's a different story, and in this instance, yes, I suspect that the cost would be reduced to the tune of approximately $5000 AUD. What really is an issue - so to speak - is as Ton has suggested; buying an M800 on its own is only $3500 AUD, while fitting and tuning would be at an absolute minimum $1500. But what you have with this kit is a pre-programmed tune that took many hours to develop and has provided not only excellent power and torque, but awesome drivability, no hiccups, good emissions and so it goes. In other words, like anything, you pay for IP. To give you another example, with the likes of LS1 Edit and other tuning packages that are available for various marques, typically (in Australian dollars) you are looking at a cost of around $10,000 plus for a lead and CD - the actual cost of which would be no more than $100. However you have paid an additional $9900 for the IP. This is how things work. Getting back to overall costs, as Ton suggested, there are several other kits out there that are certainly more expensive and some that are less expensive. So, if all one can afford is a cheap system, that is all they normally get. Just the other day I was reading about upgrade packages for the Audi RS6 twin turbo. The Stage 5 kit cost a whopping AUD$45,000 and in return you get 418 flywheel kilowatts (up 89kW from factory) for 45 big ones! Now that's expensive. That said, plenty of kits will be sold. Let's have a look at the Stage 4 Audi kit and what you get for a measly $28K: An increase of 62kW over standard, compliments of a chip, stainless exhaust system, high flow metal cats, fuel pump and regulator. Mmm, on the other hand, for mid 40s Nizpro will increase power by almost 100% from just over 200rwkw to 400rwkw, and with a massive array of custom developed parts. Sort of puts it into perspective - I hope. Have I sold you yet cuspub. Finally, we are getting stuck into kit manufacture and would love to hear from any serious parties about whether we can be of any assistance. [email protected]
