Of course. Just as long as they don't mind riding in a slow 308. Jack Russell Racing, you have a beautiful car. It looks great in black.
WOW, what an excellent response! Thanks! I think I have the structure coming together for my next vacation. I'll call it the "Ferrari tour of America". I think it this could be a really good thread for future reference if you all would be so kind as to mention the car you have too. Again, this isn't just for my benefit, but for others as well. With all I've heard about the 360 and TR's, I know those are two I'd kill to ride in. (Jerry, I WILL find you) Best! Wes
So to you Maryland/Va people, I'll be back home for thanksgiving[I live in hampton, va]. I will be paying you guys a visit!
Well i am really surprised at the offers that are pouring in as i myself asked the same question here few months ago asking if someone around Louisville,KY area be willing to give me ride in their F-355 and no one ever responded to my post. Now this was quite a few months ago and then i was visiting NY with my family few weeks ago and i asked the same question to NY F-chatters but this time since i was pretty serious i also requested with a possible drive and with an exception of one member who offered to give me a ride all i got was RENT THE DAMN CAR or TAKE A DAMN TEST DRIVE AT A DEALER.I mean i understand their concerns too but as an F-Chat member i really never expected the responses i got. However one F-chat member " TIGG" was very kind enough to offer to drive his F-355 which also happens to be a Fiarrano ( spell ?) edition but since i was on vacation i chose not to and instead decided to spent the time with family rather then looking at the cars. Any way it's great to know that there are still people out there who would share their cars, not to mention Ferraris with other members and car enthusiasts. Yasir
I know if I owned a Ferrari or any other exotic car I would love giving people rides in it. It keeps reminding you that you are very lucky to own a Ferrari. So, I live in Ottawa near the South Keys area. Any of you mind driving me to St. Patricks High school one morning? Lol. Do you know how popular I would be if I ever got picked up or dropped of in a Ferrari! To bad not many Ferrari owners live around me.
I've cought rides on an 8 turn road race track in everything from a 250 GTO to an F40 at the club meets here at Roebling Road. ONE THING I WOULD NEVER DO AGAIN: lone my brand new Simpson helmet to a sweaty headed photographer who needed one to ride. AKKK! If you want a ride bring your own damn helmet.
Marq was the first person in the world to EVER offer me a ride in a Ferrari... For the rest of my life, i don't think i'll forget that... Wes, i'm not at all surprised by the response to this thread... Although, Yasir, i'm pretty surprised at the responses you got... i've ridden in MANY members' Ferraris and driven a lot of them, too, including a Testarossa (MANY, MANY times), 328, Mondial 3.2 Cab, 355 Spider, 360 Modena, 550 Maranello, an NSX and a Chrysler Crossfire... Also got to drive a 328 that belonged to someone who WASN'T a member, because of someone who WAS a member - then i got paid $100 for it...! Not counting the cars i drove, i've ridden in 2 Testarossas, 2 550s, a 360, a 348 Spider, a 308, a 328, a 355 Spider, 2 NNOs, an F40 LM, 2 F355s, The Breadvan, a Lotus Esprit V8 TT, a Countach and a Monterey Edition Diablo SV... The trick, i think, is NOT asking for a ride, though... i never asked for any of those rides - all of the owners of those cars here offered the rides... There are lots of really nice people who show up to the different events around the country and most likely, there's a FerrariChat member there, somewhere... As much as i hate going out in public, it's well worth it...
I do not own a Ferrari at the time being; however, the kids at my high school (I'm only 16) just drool at my red Twin Turbo Z. The kids act like its a Ferrari or something Anyway, I've given about 7 rides to various kids. Each and every one of them were ecstatic afterwards. I think it's great to make someone's day by doing something so simple as giving a ride. PS: Is there anyone in the Clemmons/Winston-Salem/Lewisville/Greensboro North Carolina area that is willing to give me a ride? I've never ridden in ANY Ferrari or Lamborghini and would love to experience it for the first time. PPS: I can drive stick **hint, hint** Just kidding
Zach, one day, i'm gonna have an NNO - a black one - and you'll be on my list for a ride and drive... i'll be driving all around the country in it, stopping at various FerrariChatters' houses to give rides and drives...
Augustine: Last time another Fchatter let you drive his car you ended up selling your car in disgust to get a better sounding car. I bet your new car will still not sound as good as my 308QV!!! Nor will it be as fast!!! See you later buddy. Ken
ZACH 300ZX TT.... If you are ever in the Greenville, SC area, I would be more than happy to take you for a ride in the 348!! All I ask is for a ride in your Z in return!!! I still have twin turbo Z running through my veins...Maybe I should buy another??????!!!!!!!!!
My first F-car ride ever was in a 550 owned by an f-chatter!!!! Little did I know that my dad would buy a 355 spider 3 or 4 months later. I have also ridden in other f-chatters cars a lotus esprit and a 328 to name a few. Anyone in the area with a vintage f-car, 308, F40,F50,Enzo,360 modena looking for a passanger? Erik
To ansewer the question YES!!! My father had a friend show up at our house back in '83 in a new 512BB. I was 21 and had a small european auto shop, and was already a fanatic about any itialian car. I interupted and asked, no, begged Dr. Albert to let me sit in his car. He tossed me the keys and said take it for a spin. It was the most wonderful automotive experence I have had so far. I love to share the experence with others now that I have a Ferrari, and every time I do, I wonder if I just put the burn in someone's heart the same way Dr. Albert did to me 21 years ago.
I'll trade rides with any F-car owner! I, too, love to hear and feel and experience different Ferraris. And there's a huge list of Ferraris that I have yet to get a ride in. Oh, and Napolis, you have TWO Ferraris that top my list of Ferraris that I want a ride in!! (big wink!) And if I'm not busy trading a ride with an F-car owner, I'll happily give rides to anybody else. There is NEVER a time when I'd rather drive a Ferrari alone than with someone else. A huge part of the thrill is experiencing the car through someone else's eyes... experiencing it for the first time again and again. The only thing better than giving a first-time-Ferrari ride, is giving it (on appropriate roads) to someone who also has never really felt a car near its limit. Then, in addition to that awe, and excitement, and thrill... they are also a bit terrified, surprised, and a tad nauseous!
Assuming I'm not pressed for time, I am willing to give anyone a ride who is relatively clean and not wearing spikes.
