Well it's finally time to address the brakes on the 328 before the French Quarter Concourso track day. I've done my research and have settled on the R4-s'. Has anybody found them at a better deal than the Porterfield website? They want $99 front/$79 rear. While $180 isn't that much for brakes, I was just wondering if anybody has found a cheaper/reliable source. And also, anybody have the min thickness specs for a 328 rotor?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Put R4-s' on my 550 about 3,000 miles ago .... very happy with them, minimal dusting, and they almost never squeal (unlike the stock pads). Braking power seems about the same as stock pads ... but they do get better as they heat up. For a 550, paid about $ 260 for a full set ... bought mine at their shop in Costa Mesa, California .....

I bought my R4-S's direct from Porterfield... have had them about 2 years including some lightweight track events. They're great.

Yeah, the best price so far sems to be from them direct. Still, I just want to be sure I have all my bases covered. I didn't want to drop $180 and then find a place a week later that had them for a lot less. (Which seems to be the way my luck has been running lately!)

I have had the R-4S pads on the front of my 328 for 3 years and I am really happy with them. Low/no dust and only a real mild occasional squeal.

Plan to use them on th rear and BMW daily driver too!

Suggest you use a hi-temp fluid. While it only lasts 30 days or so, it is much better on the track than the normal stuff.

That's only true if you go with an extreme race fluid. Ate Super Blue (or Gold) is a good hi-temp fluid that lasts at least 6 months. Not as hi-temp as a full race fluid but a good compromise.
