Heads up. I'm working on putting together an impromptu drive this Saturday morning at 9:30AM. The weather is expected to be good. It will start out near HWY 405/ Maple Valley Drive and there will be an arranged lunch (separate checks) at a "Lodge" around 12:30PM. We will arrive back near 405, by late afternoon (4PM?). I will post the details later today and will also post it on FClub chat. This is -NOT- an official FClub event. Anyone with a Ferrari or other exotic is welcome to come.
-Scenic Loop Drive around White Pass & Chinook Pass- This Saturday morning, Sept. 25th The weather is supposed to be great this weekend, so Sue & I have planned a little end of the summer, "impromptu drive," for Saturday morning. We did a similar drive a few years ago and the scenery/roads were great. The fall colors are already starting to appear and the views of Mt. Rainier are amazing. Here's the plan: Meet up 9:15AM at the Southcenter Mall parking lot (north of Nordstrom's). We will head out via Hwy 167 through the backroads of the Green River valley, on to Enumclaw and over "White Pass." We'll stop along the way for Mt. Rainier photos and a rest stop break. Then we'll continue on to "Naches" and lunch at "Whistlin' Jack Lodge" (www.whistlinjacklodge.com), a very quaint resort on the river, by around 12:30-1:00PM. Separate checks will be provided. After lunch, we'll head back home via "Chinook Pass"- Hwy 410, with another view stop along the way. We should be back in the Seattle area by around 5:00PM. Bring your FRS radios, if you have one. Hope to see you! Gary The drive route is highlighted in -BLUE-
The weather report for tomorrow's drive route, is -SUNNY- ! Naches (lunch stop) lists a high of 86 degrees. Whistlin' Jack live cam Enumclaw- Sunny/ 75 White Pass/Packwood- Sunny/76 Anyone planning on doing the drive with us?
Sorry to hear you guys can't make it. Sue and I will be at Southcenter Mall at 9:15AM to meet up with anyone who wants to join us for the drive. The weather/drive is going to be great! Gary
Damn I just found this thread. I would love to go, but I don't think I could make it down there in less than an hour. Have fun guys.
Brian, You should have called me! My number is in the roster and newsletter. Here's some photos from today! The weather and drive was AMAZING!!
Remember I'm not in the club so I'm not privy to that info, but the day was not wasted. I installed my new exhaust system. Now the Alfa sound really burrly! It's kind of a cross between the throughtiness of a american V8 at idle, with the high revs of an Italian machine. Although I might steel you route for a drive tomorrow. Was it just you today?
Brian, I'll email you my numbers, for next time! Congrats on the new exhaust system, it's always fun to have a little extra sound. It was just Sue and me today for the drive, we had planned to go ourselves anyway, but were hoping a few people would come along. Had a great drive, nice lunch. The Boxer was running really strong. Round trip from home was about 425-Kms (265 miles). Blew through almost a whole tank of gas (29 gallons), I wasn't being shy with the fun pedal.
Weather has been great up here too. I took my GT4 out for a nice, welcomed long drive today as well, as I finally feel better after being ill for a while... Sure felt better afterwards! I love the scenery Gary, nice choice...
