I have had my beast for 2 1/2 years. I am wondering how long the battery on the key lasts. If it dies, am I dead meat? Will I not be able to start my car? With my luck it would happen at 2 a.m. with my wife in a strange place.

    Any comments?

You should have received a code along with the red colored remote.
The code is used in the event the remote is inoperative.
The code is entered by turning the ignition key from the off postion to the run position in sequence to the code.
    For example: code is 13579
Enter the first digit by cycling the ignition one time. Pause. Enter the second digit by cycling the ignition 3 times consecutively. Pause. Enter the third digit by cycling the ignition 5 times etc, etc.

It's supposed to work that way, but I've never had the opportunity to try it!

I hope that is the answer you were looking for.
