It's common knowledge but many of us don't want to pay $.85 for stamps.

apparently when they first offered this service they didn't scrutinize the pictures people submitted so all kinds of embarassing pictures ended up on some stamps. this is their latest policy:

    "stamps.com
    Important Policy Update
PhotoStamps currently will only accept color images (no black & white) of children who appear to be 12 years of age or younger, pets and animals, business and charity logos, landscapes, wildlife, and vehicles.

Currently we are not accepting images of adults or teenagers."

    Rick,
I will put my order in for 2000. That's a bargain if I have ever seen one. :)

Actually, all kidding aside, I did do a few of those stamps. They're cool. Luckily, I was able to get some made of two adults before the ban went into effect. :D

the pricing is nothing short of silly.

the concept though isn't without merit. i know i for one use VERY few stamps myself these days. all my bills get paid electronically. i don't write letters to anybody - just emails. anything important goes fedex. it's just the odd this-and-that that requires snailmail. maybe three per month on a busy month?

i can't imagine i'm the only person who behaves like that. if you're looking at declining market share, stuff like this makes good marketing sense. if any actual instance of sending snailmail is something out of the ordinary, then why not make it a bit more special?

if i show this to my wife, she's going to have me do up christmas stamps of the kids for the holiday cards, that's for sure!

wait until you need brake jobs on those two puppies ;)

    doody.

Sorry, didn't you read the new policy, no kids. Snowmen that are likenesses are OK. Ooops read it wrong....says no black or white kids. Other ethnicities are OK though :)

interesting news. the USPS has shut down this stamps.com pilot program. they want to review its process thus far before letting them continue. it seems likely the program might be turned off through the holidays, which is unfortunate (if not longer - we'll see).

i don't see how the USPS is going to permit this going forward without some review of the content.and review of the content, imo, is going to be way too expensive to make it even vaguely cost effective.

    doody.

right ... we dont mind the cost of the Ferrari, the major service costs, the 9 miles per gallon, the $150 details, the $29 ferrari hats, the pricey insurance - but we draw the line at the extra 48 cents per cool stamp :)

by the way - I just ordered a sheet - the process is incredibly easy
