Thanks Pen! That's interesting with 17 GTO's there, there was still only one 365CA... I guess the other 13 365 owners didn't have extra space to bring one -- or they were already bringing their GTO!

Now for some photos from Saturday afternoon's races.

I left the vendor village and headed along the perimeter road towards turn 2. I took the first photo as I did, showing the Ferrari corral in the middle and the corral for other exotics and the like in the foreground. The vendor village is the series of small white tents.

I took a few shots looking at the outside of turn 2, including one showing F1 cars on both the track and pit exit road simultaneously. Then I headed up the hill to a spot overlooking turn 1. The entire track from there to turn 5 was visible, as the run from turn 9 down to turn 10. Great viewing!

And a few shots of the Ferrari GT race that ended the day. Try adding up the value of all the cars in any of these photos.........

Very Nice pics, Especially the last 2.
I am in both of those pics!
I am behind the tire wall wearing a light blue shirt.
3 guys standing close together are to my right.

The view and sound from my vantage point was indescribeable.

When I got to the paddock on Sunday morning, the sun was already out, which was mostly helpful but also hindered at some points. I looked for cars I hadn't seen the day before, which included the original "Moby Dick" Porsche:

9631... i don't know much about the car except for the s/n and owner; Wayne could probably tell you more about it, why it doesn't have those round things, why others do and all sorts of other stuff... :)

Only 14 cars were ever built (of which this is the fifth). When model production comprised so few examples, and especially with these special "fit for a king" models, the cars tended to have variations according to individual owners' tastes.

I believe this particular car was the 1967 Geneva Salon car and was originally Rosso Rubino over tan.

Nothing more to add except that it survived some sort of a crash in the mid-1970s.

I like the grandstand at turn 4 at Laguna, even though it's at the flattest part of the track, since you can see all the way from turn 2 thru turn 5, and take photos without having to shoot through a fence. These are from Sunday morning practice:

Jim, You got some great shots, and I hope you are satisfied with the answer you got regarding car number 5. The respondent is quite qualified.

Regarding the two 250GTs, Pete is right that is a 250GT Pininfarina Cabriolet. The other car is a bit suspicious looking but it might be the picture. Its got the overall look of a SWB California Spyder but the headlights just don't look right to me. The openings seem out of proportion. Take a look at the other cars posted in this same thread (there's a shot with four or five of them in it.) These cars have been the subject of reproductions and its possible that this one is an example.

Thanks for that! No one ever made a sexier racing car than the P4, and I doubt if anyone else will ever top it!

Not quite done yet! More pics from Sunday morning in Turn 4. I scanned these at a slightly lower resolution; hope they're good enough.

I climbed the hill towards the corkscrew, a little at a time. They're planning a stairway; what they need is an escalator or a gondola!

But during one of my rest stops, I spotted this. You might call it a "California car" but the plates say it's from Oregon!

For those of you who've never been to Laguna (and even those who have):

From a few yards away from the famous Corkscrew, you can get this magnificent vista of much of the circuit. This is spliced together from two photos I shot back-to-back with a 28mm lens. It's not a perfect splice, but it's close enough.

Too bad the 640 pixel size limit causes the image to be so small. Look closely and you can see the entire track from the approach to Turn 10 (far right) past the start/finish line all the way to Turn 5 (far left).
