I like the design of the 355, so yes, your car looks good (although the 348 is a good looking car, too ...).

But does this conversion make sense? I suppose the body panels and material are as much as the price difference between a 348 and a 355, so why not go for the real thing?

Looks pretty convincing! What does the tail look like? Did you get the 348-355 tail light conversion done?

The 348 conversion is certainly interesting!

I really like the look of the 348, more so than the 355. The fins down the doors of the 348 really make the car. The rear of the 355 looks better than the 348, a hybrid might be the happiest medium. I have seen some conversion kits. I believe a name brand Japanese styler (can't remember who) makes a 355 tail light conversion kit.

Does this 348 cross the line into kit-car territory because it is somewhat trying to be something it isnt? (no offence intended - just wondering what the consensus is)

Thanks for the compliments, I picked up 355 used body parts
(sides, front), and some were traded even steven for my 348 parts so actually
only paid for the paint work... I always loved the 355 look much more
and let's face it guys, the cheese graters do make the 348 look a bit more
dated (80s) a la Miami Vice, but I did leave the 348 rear because
    1) the rear conversion to make it look right is a lot more involved (welding)
and 2) I do like the open design, better cooling.

    ----No offense intended----

too bad the door line doesnt line up that nicely....its a very good swap though. if u look at the pic closely...u can see how the alignment is a "bit" off....i dont think others will notice unless they are picky.

So are u gonna add a prancing horse on the grill?....i think that makes it all "complete"

btw- i noticed that u kept the rear deck lid......*thumbs up*

kiinda reminds me of the end of the production date of the 348 and beginning of the 355.

    ....like a concept

I was quite confused at first when i was it....i was thinking 348 was a typo. Mabey you should call it a 358....anyway looks pretty cool, the body work is good (despite the minor flaws pointed out by tocoz4sale).

One of the reasons why i posted these pictures is to really show that the 348 and 355 are basically the same cars body-wise, and can be relatively easily converted if you have access to inexpensive body panels. The wheels are not everyones thing but I did like the deep dish design with the polished lip and the curved spokes, makes the car look more muscular imho.
(btw they are Antera 18s, I got the widest possible wheels, together with Yokohama Sport tires). Together with the kevlar seats, the challenge exhaust and the chip update to '93 spider chips I have a car that I really like to drive...

Looks good..... for a 355. But your car is a 348, you should keep it looking that way.

  22. Put 355 wheels on it, The seats give it away a little but its still looks great.

Looks okay...but makes no sense really. Now you have a fake F355 and kind of look like a pretender. The 348 is a great looking car on its own and it probably cost you as much to make it look like an F355 as it would have to actually just sell the 348 and buy a real F355.

thanks all for the compliments. Once again, I pretty much traded my old 348 parts EVEN for the used 355 parts, i.e. other than paint and mounting I did not have to spend that much... if it makes you feel better :)

I think everyone agrees though that the 355 has a much fresher 90s look and just looks more finished and well put together... so... why not move in that direction if it's feasible?

Of course if you have to pay Ferrari prices a conversion like this will easily be ~20k....
