I've got somewhere on my computer (can't find it... argh!) a photo taken by a passenger looking out over the left wing, which was on fire with the number 2 engine fallen off. The wing was so burnt that the end had curled up, and the fire had eaten all the way through in several places. The scary thing is this photo was taken while the plane was still in flight, and the wing was still well ablaze!

I believe the incident happened in 1968 in England and the plane involved was a BOAC 707.

Do a search for "Jpg" to see every picture on your computer.

I'm sure you'll be amazed what shows up!

Now Now William,You should not jump to conclussions. We have had many cowlingings falling of generally to do with fatigue and bad design, but occasionally the Mechs fail to fasten them.

It was a print-out from one of our B/W printers here at the 'Flying Aluminum Tube Company'. I assumed it was from one of our 'Aircraft On Ground' repair teams. It was folded in half.

What's the deal? That plane would have made it. So the cowling blew off, it may add a little drag to the left, just trim it right. :D

Any landing you can walk away from, is a good one.

For those interested in airliners and aviation in general this site is most excellent; www.airliners.net.

The photography is amazing. Some of the best are approaches to St. Maartens, just feet above the beach, people actually duck when they go over.

Scroll the tool bar on the left hand side for the type of photos you want. There is also a section on air disasters for the macabre.

Try www.skyhighairlines.com for a good laugh. Every time you refresh the page a new slogan appears below the tail of the airplane..

Make a reservation and check out the itinerary. Click the link at the bottom of the Free Range Fares window and determine your cost. What a crack up.
