Okay, what's wrong with this picture? (Look carefully!)
This episode came early in the race just before the end of a full-course yellow. Leader James Weaver in the #16 Lola slowed way down coming into 10A to try and get a running start to the green flag. The field behind him was already anticipating the green and a big bunch-up occurred. The Porsche that's facing the wrong way had to spin to avoid collecting someone (perhaps the #20 Lola, which is going around him). The next time the same situation occurred, Weaver didn't slow down as much. Perhaps someone warned him on the radio? (Later, the #16 lost the lead, and ultimately a podium finish, when the car got stuck in 5th gear. Apparently the paddle-shifter mechanism had failed, and it was disconnected. Luckily they had never removed the conventional gearshift lever!)
Chalk that one down to experience gained ... the lead car can do what ever they bloody like! Amatures ... Pete
