Just rang Verdi and was quoted in the region of £1675+VAT for TUBI & decat, suplly and fit. Does this sound about right?

This is for '96 model year 355 spyder. He also mentioned the injection version. 2.7 or 5.2? What is the difference between the versions?

Price is spot on. The 2.7 cars are 95 build and have 2 seperate airboxes in engine bay. It's rumoured they put out slighty more BHP and have OBD1 engine mngment , which makes decatting car easier.

The 2.7 (early cars) also have different test pipes to the later 5.2 cars... The back box will fit both injection types...

Any idea why they changed to the 5.2 system? Are the emissions better with that system?

What about all the talk of Capristos running very hot? Surely this is an issue, especially if you are without Challenge grille.

Yes they do run hot. Fortunately I already have a challenge grill.

I was also advised not to fit one without test pipes because of the heat so test pipes duly fitted :)

Karl at Verdi's also advised that wiring open the bypass valve keeps the heat down so I've done that as well.

I think that's all the bases covered?

EU Regulations unfortunately - stick with the 2.7 more HP and easier to tune (ie Tubi, no cats, ECU etc)

I have spoken with TUBI in Italy.
They have informed me that they have no Official Importer in the UK. That they only have UK agents and that anyone that orders a Tubi from anywhere will have a full guarantee from Tubi who ever fits them....

Note I have a 348 Spider and not a 355. The 355 exhaust might be more expensive...

    Graham,

I gather from this that you have a Capristo? I really liked the sound of them on the vids, but went with the herd and bought a Tubi. Baaaaa.

What's it like to drive with?

Just to clear up the confusion here once and for all. We at Scuderia Systems UK Ltd are the OFFICIAL UK importer for Tubi Style SPA. As such we control ALL imports of Tubi Style products to the UK according to the status granted to us from the Tubi Style factory. We both retail and supply to trade official Tubi Style products to independent ferrari specialists such as Verdi Ferrari, Joe Macari Performance Cars, Neil Lucas, Strasse, Talacrest, Stewart Roden Motorsport, Westover Sports Cars. We also supply at trade to three quarters of the Official Ferrari Network.

With regards to warranty as the OFFICIAL UK importer for Tubi Style SPA we enforce the validation of all OFFICIAL Tubi Style products supplied through the official channels to the UK, i.e. importer to dealer to end user. What we have found in the past is that we have been contacted by customers with exhaust systems that have developed a fault in some cases faults as severe as catastrophic structural faults were the customer believed they had purchased an official Tubi Style silencer and it turns out that the silencer they had purchased wasn't a Tubi Style at all but a copy or fake (call it what you may). It may surprise you to know that the manufacture of Tubi Style replicas/fakes is quite common.

Now you may ask how do we regulate Tubi Style silencers? Quite simply every Tubi Style silencer for ALL Ferraris as well as other marques has a plate welded to it that displays a serial number usually something like 000000007856. This isn't just a number but it tells us when the silencer was made and who supplied the silencer. We have a database of the serial numbers of all OFFICIAL Tubi Style silencers as the official UK importer. Tubi Style SPA also have this database.

If anyone is unsure as to whether they have purchased on OFFICIAL Tubi Style product please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or via our contact numbers at www.tubistyle.co.uk with the serial number, date of purchase and supplying dealer and we will check for you.

Justin with regards to your post we have checked with the CEO of Tubi Style SPA in Maranello who is a personal friend of mine as to who you spoke to who supplied you with the incorrect information so if you have a name please contact us via the contact email address.

    Thank you for reading.

    Ajay,
I am not here to name names. Let it rest.
Thanks for your advice on this matter.

I do understand where you are coming from with regard to fake Tubis. I was told when I bought my 348 it had a Tubi on it. Well thanks to Manu pointing me in the right direction with the serial numbers it turns out it not a Tubi.

    One will learn...

It's a constant delight to drive. No booming or harshness at all, at any point in the rev range.

I'd love to know what it sounds like when I drive past people at 8500 rpm because it sings like a scratched Kate Bush record from inside the cabin!
