The drive was circuitous. Some of you may remember my drive back from Houston in the 355, this drive was not so direct. We drove to Texarkana on the first day. Then on to Columbia Missouri to vist my sister, then to Craig Colorado, then to Oakland to pick up my car at the airport, then to Napa. All told it was exactly 2,992 miles start to my fridge for a well deserved adult beverage.

There was a lack of BLT's on the trip :(

but I ate at Red Lobster for the firs time....the girl next to me was cute so that made it better.

Colorado was amazing! We drove HWY 40 and the aspens were turning, just amazing! Once again driving across the US does not dissapoint in scenic beauty. And when you travel 3000 mile from the Ozark to the Rockies to the high desert you get quite abit of it.

BTW the 550 cruises easily at speeds which still allow you to have the air con on full blast listen to music and carry on a conversation. All the while you have to remember that there are people out there (hello officer) that don't think you should be having this much fun.

Unfortunately Roland and I were not able ot meet up, again. He was ferrying a 550 from LA to CO.

    Vince,
The 550 is nice, but that is one hell of a good looking BLT. Is that on whole wheat?

Vincent, you have to be the man this year. Not only 5 digits of Fcar miles but in two different models and what, like 15 states. You da man.
Next thing we know there will be a PBS special on western travel in road jets starring our very own! Glad you had a safe trip, John

I thought your first trip was enriched by the breakdown and other unanticipated events. These things make the trip a real journey of discovery. It's good to communicate with people you would not normally talk to--except for when things "go wrong." Even moments of boredom can be educational by illustrtating the limits to the enjoyment that can come from even the most beautiful of machines. Good luck on the next trip.
