I collected my residuals this morning, so now I'm drinking beer, watching SpongeBob, whining to RPM that my car is not done, and hassling people across the Internet... i wonder how long this can last?

Ordered up the parts this week. Work should begin in earnest next week. So far the delay is my own lack of attention...
Nothing personal. Just joking. I really love all Automobiles including the SL. Got two friends who have one (SL55). Really is fast and a joy to ride. Deep inside "us" Ferrari guys really want 500 HP in our 360 or the new 430.
Its really about time Ferrari anteed up with this. This is the first time since I've been alive that a new Ferrari owner has had to say something weak, like "its not about the speed, its the passion/name/look/[enter anything else]," because his car wasn't at least as fast as the fastest production car on the market. When the TR was new, it was the fastest. When the 550 was new, ditto, and ditto for the 348, 355 and 360. Today, no matter how cool or how hot the 430 will be on or off the track, it will still be slower than an automatic SL55/SL65, a Viper or a Ford GT. WHAT THE F@CK!!! Given the Fcar prices, the maintenance headache, and now the sub-supercar (for today's standards) performance figures, how are we expected to continue selecting Ferrari over a faster, cheaper and less maintenance Porsche, Mercedes, Chrysler, GM or Ford? Seriously! Bring it on, I want to hear your responses. David

I just think that the Ferrari company should try to continue what they started and build the fastest street cars of the day like they always have before, and if they can't, to wait on releasing new models till they engineer one and can...
I think its a serious problem. Ferrari should always be the fastest. I also think that when you buy a Ferrari, your still getting serious performance, just not as fast as some of the cars out there. I think as far as street performance goes, mid 4's, 0-60 is more then acceptable. The reality is a lot of Ferrari owners (not EC guys) don't go to the track. There are other reasons to buy a Ferrari. I agree that the price of the new 430 will be equal to 5 Corvettes or three Vipers and the performance is similiar or even the Americans have an advantage. The numbers mean a lot, but today there are so many cars doing sub 5's 0-60 that its an amazing time that we live in. I think that the purchase of any exotic is what that car does for you astetically, performance, reliability and value. And then the buyer makes that choice. Most of the guys on this board will only buy a Ferrari. Thats their experience, thats what they love and thats their passion. Its no different in the 60's or 70's when our fathers only bought the same brand of cars over and over. I think its what does it for you. Maybe the answer is that Ferrari should have a serious after market company (ex: AMG)that offers that extra boost in performance. Also note that competition has changed in the last 10 or so years. There is much more competition, which, in the end is good for us, the consumer.
