Time to start a new thread on Octoberfest, Sam. I'm in. For the shoot: I don't envision us "parking" along the street. I thought we were going to have a/several photographers stationed 1) "perched above the street" from head-on & sides 2) "Street Level" 3) "Peeping up manholes" as we drove overhead giving the 'recently run-over' viewpoint lol Ok, maybe not in manholes. That's three photographers. then all these Ferrari swarm Times square from waiting side-streets and pull into pre-defined positions, jump out & stand next to the cars. A Motorolla squawks....cheese......click-click-click-click-click-click and the motorolla squawks "Got it" and we drive like heck to get out of there. (might be neat to get the roar of the engines captured on tape.). WHole process. 5min. 10min max knowing how slow we are. Oh, the guy in the manhole will be going "Click-click-click...****....click....click....click....Dang.....click" 'cause he has to duck down to avoid a bad case of Pirelli razor burn.
I would highly recommend everyone getting or bringing thier GMRS radios for this, official EC channel 15main 15sub. (Vik get a new one so you can use this channel)

Should I request a still photo permit? - Sunday, 10/10 - 5:00am to 9:00am - West Side of Broadway between 44th & 45th (In front of MTV) - West Side of Broadway between 45th & 46th (In front of Marriot) - Description of Scene: Cars parked on the side of the street in Times Square. No talent. Vehicles only. Need side of streets closed/reserved. - Format/Equipment: Still/Digital. No lights, ambient/natural only. No sidewalks blocked. - Props: None. - # in Group: 16 - # of Vehicles: 12 This way, we can shoot from the sidewalk, across the interesting things at Times Square (GMA Studio/Disney Sign, Toys "R" Us, Ad Towers at either end) Thoughts?
- How difficult is it to get a photo permit, and how quickly can it be done? - Cost (so we can all pitch in)? - What extended privileges will it allow us (ie, able to shoot for a specific period of time, able to partially block traffic, etc.) - Like the west side shots, but was thinking we should also move the cars to East Side of B'way or 7th Avenue to get the NASDAQ + other signs in the backdrop. Will the permit allow for this? What sayeth you? PS - Not sure if it makes a bearing on the permit, but actual timing in Da Square expected to be 6:30am - 7:30am, given that daybreak is anticipated to be at 7:02am. Buffer by stating 6:00am - 8:00am?
Emil, That sounds pretty good, I would almost consider getting up at 3 am to get in on the action.....
yep, 3am the day before, you should be here on time we will give u a warm welcome, to the man from the EAST!
FYI from the NY MTA: Queens Midtown Tunnel WEEKEND TUBE CLOSURE Saturday, October 9th and Sunday, October 10th: One tube closed from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday. Motorists headed to Queens from Manhattan need to approach the tunnel from either 34th or 35th Streets between 2nd and 3rd Avenues during this period. The west lane of the northbound tunnel exit street between 37th and 38th Streets in Manhattan is closed through the end of the year to accommodate building inspections along this street. Customers should take the exit marginal street or divert to First or Third Avenue for destinations north of the Tunnel.
I bet at that time I could get in there in not much more than an hour.... maybe hour and fifteen minutes....
I don't know. $0 I don't know, but I'd be willing to bet that the permit would NOT allow us to block traffic. If we got a FILM permit (which costs $$$) we could arrange something like that. HOWEVER, if we have a permit, and are nice to Johnny Law, I'm sure things will work in our favor. The permit application asks for locations. Gimme a location, and I'll add it to the request. Want to say East Side, Broadway between 43rd & 44th? Is that the spot? What sayeth you? I think we ask for more time and then if the cut it in half either way, we can see. Remember, just because the sun comes up a 7:02 does not meen light will get into Times Square (in a meaningful way) at that exact moment. Also, no guarantee that we'll get a permit if we ask...
My dad might show up with the Enzo. But the 10th is hiswife bday so he dunno if she will appreciate that But im trying to convince him !
