Is it true you can not fix zippers?
the zippers in the rear of my 308 luggage area are non functional. One is separated from the other side, one just does not zip. My back aches from bending over, trying to get either one of these to work.
I called 2 local tailor shops, both said you can not fix zippers.
Here's a thread on how to replace the part...

    but... can it be fixed?

YKK has repair kits for theirs, but the original ones in Fcars are not that brand.

If you removed your vinyl assembly, I'd think a trim shop could sew a new one in, but you are almost matching the labor to just replace the whole thing.

The problem often seems to be that the leather shrinks, so that even fixing the zipper is not enough; if I pull the cover as hard as I can, I cannot close the "gap" because it has shrunk. I'm told the only solution then is to get an entirely new cover.

A "Tumi" soft-briefcase of mine with the same type coil zipper was mangled due to impact wear on the bottom; a local luggage repair facility did REPAIR it, with new pulls...T.W. Carrol, Tukwila, WA. They used a special sewing machine to "reset" the coils to the fabric...I couldn't believe they did it without replacing the zipper and tearing apart the bag to do it.

At a recent F-car club gathering, a sharp eye pointed out some non-standard things on my car...such as the fact I have only 1 pull when 2 should have been installed. An obvious reproduction luggage area cover, I'll live with it as is.

I also saw some reproduction covers with non-coil zippers, they don't flow as smoothly around the curved sides nor do the zippers pull as smoothly around the corners.

I had same problem with my zipper in 308 pull would not close zipper closed but pull apart. Went to local shoe repair store (stand alone building not in mall) man took one end of zipper loose from cover installed new pull hand sewed cover back in place cost $50.00 works great if zipper isn't damaged this can be done.
