Do you think that the 430 launch will have much of an impact on F355 prices ? Early models seem to be steady in the $70k range now.

More 360 will be on the market so the price will go down.
Which means 355's prices will also go down because although the 355 is prettier , the 360 is a much better car .

This will be decided by the current 355 owners.
Nothing will happen if they keep their cars; and the 355 is a 'keeper'.

Supposing most owners sell their car (360) to get a 430 and
assumed that the 360 prices going cheap enough to allow an easy switch-over for the current 355 owners ..., some 355 will be casted in the market. This does not increase the 355 values :-/

But I don't expect the 355 falling because other the cars are "better" cars.
They rather fall with their milage. Would be interesting to make a poll like:
"Who will keep his 355 the next 4 years?"

never catch a falling knife ...

I wish people would stop asking this stuff. They wikll all go down..every model...even the 430 from the over-retail that people pay initially. So there is the answer to every thread on prices.

Only thing that is interesting...and has a different answer..is prices on vintage cars like the Dino.

OK, but when does a car qualify as Vintage ?

I also do not believe F355 prices will drop much. The tight price bands between the 328, 348, & F355 (early models) would seem to support stability.

    i agree with amenace
    prices will drop
355 is nicer to look at but the 360 is much better underneath

in 3 years F355's will be priced like 348's are now

Lots of volume in a basically fixed market, prices will drop.

A car is vintage as soon as its price starts to climb instead of falling.

I am not an expert, but I would say for this to happen a car must be at minimum 25 - 30 years out of production and VERY attractive. The 355 already qualifies for the latter, so all it needs now are just 20 or 25 years of waiting :)

High priced newer 355s may depreciate as 360 prices fall as owners trade up to the next new thing. However, I can't see prices being affected much broadly speaking- not all 355 owners will trade up to a 360...

IMO the 355 has classic status as it is the last Ferrari to have the 246 Dino stye buttresses/engine cover.

FWIW in the UK a good 328 is now worth more than its original list price.

Robertb, What are the current UK price ranges for the 328, 348, & 355 ? I have also recently heard that early 456 GT's are available for 328/348 type sums.

Look at it, are you going to sell your 355 to get one? My 2 cents, the 355 prices will not drop much further unless the next generation car is a knockout.

    Roughly, prices are as below;

    328' s are in the mid £30k's
    348's between £30-40k
    355's between £45k-£55k
456's are quite rare but early models are being offered between £45k -£60k

Here's a sample from our one our sponsors, Verdi. Remember, in UK ,LHD cars are considerably cheaper.

I have been looking for about 3 weeks and researched approx.90+ 355's. I'm looking for 97 & up GTS. Spyders are everywhere w/stable pricing. What I have seen is mileage & updates being most critical ( $ ) in market. A lot of these guys don't even know their own car and think it's worth alot more than it is. Many are coming up on 15K & 30K service and many haven't done them yet. The smart 355 buyer will determine the market & maybe hold $$ and step up into a 550. That's my problen right now. 355 are gorgeous but alot of little problems. I don't think they are worth anything over $103,000/max. And looking around 360's ARE EVERYWHERE with pricing coming down. You buy the 355 for the "look" not the engineering.

We will all know the answers in a few years' time, but this to me is key.

In the UK there are less and less 355s coming up for sale. I would guess this is because (a) there were only 408 RHD (taking the GTB as an example - people tend to want a specific model and this was my target) and (b) once people have the one they want, they hold onto it (I toyed with selling mine at the end of last year, but it's still with me :) ).

Can't find the Ferrari Used Car Locator that used to be on their UK site, so can't compare 360 numbers, but I suspect there were a lot more RHD examples. I also suspect that 360 owners will be more tempted to upgrade (the look isn't radically different but I suspect performance will be).

Looking at the price bands, it looks like F355 prices might fall by 5k at the most but should remain fairly stable.

If you're seriously looking at buying one, just buy one.

The sort of depreciation you'd be looking at is nothing compared to similarly aged "other" cars, and they really are as good as you may have fantasised about as a kid.

You buy one in two years' time and you'll spend the next 10yrs wondering why you didn't do it sooner.
